WOW. Interest in mustangs, interest in his son, interest in coaching basketball. WOW-a-wow-wee. Good stuff, man. Congrats on the record.

I want to coach, have a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (education with no certification?), and want to finish a masters in Professional writing. What do i do? Are you sure I can't coach here in at least HISD without working full time for them? Do I have to be woking full time for them? I guess I have to ask per ISD.

    HALF-COURT D:
the 3-2, with the fastest guy ALWAYS on the ball on top, the lower guys guarding the passing lanes.

    FULL-COURT D:
May I suggest the 1-3-1 full-court press? Upon scoring, the fastest guy (usually a guard) is on the closest man to the inbound man, pressuring the inbound pass (there's no need to guard the inbound man on full court). There are 3 guys in the next line, on the halfcourt line, playing cornerbacks and strong safety, and as soon as the pass comes in, the man off the inbound pass goes to the side and pressures the one with the ball. The idea of this press is to find their weakest dribbler or shortest player to get the ball, and you have an easy turnover in the passing lanes. I am a stealing demon at work during lunch pick up games with that and nobody expects me to be that fast.

    SwoLy-Defense, my friend.

Now, whom can I teach this full-court press?

I miss coaching youth football, but it demands time I just don't have right now. :(

Different games, different players. It takes a number of practices to be able to run an offense that can defeat a zone. A bunch of men coming together for the first time can easily be shut down by a zone. What fun is that? But a team, one that has been organized by a league, should have enough practice time to level the playing field.

Only you, bigtwin, would compare a friendly pickup game amongst guys who have never played together to an organized league sponsored game. Can you see the difference, or should I spell it out in further detail?

6 games left. Shouldn't have lost the one we lost, but when we miss 12 uncontested layups, it's hard to win. We lost that game by 6 points.

Then we beat a team last night that was on a 7 game win streak...

Head coach already offered me the job next year...

even the great ones miss uncontested layups

    it happens.

But 12 uncontested in a game? It drove me nuts!!! To play well enough to win and shoot poor enough to lose.

Regardless, we had shooting fundamentals all week in practice...We missed two in last nights game. Lit it up one foot inside the 3 point line.

2 games left. Saturday and Monday.

After starting with close to 30 players, we are down to 10. 4 players have been kicked off in the last week, two starters and two off the bench.

Last game tonight...bus leaves in an hour and a half. In three hours, I will be a free man!!!

I already spoke to the head basketball coach and he's going to try to get me into the basketball athletics class for next year.

    That would be AWESOME!!!
