I hear zero disrespect towards Dallas.

I realize you may be superstitious...but I think you are over-reacting.

I think we can't do anything about what the media says. As hard as they hyped us now, they were really down on us. So hopefully, the boys can keep a clear mind, keep focused and poised. We can't let those garbadge bandwagoners affect our play. I think JVG is too good a coach to let that happen. I still remember that Yao said something to Chinese reporters near the end of our regular season. He asked them not to talk about how far they can go, coz the last time people talked about Championship in that tough winning streak, we lost consecutive games, and he didn't want that happen again. TMac should have already learned his lesson in the Detroit series. So I think what really happens is, the media is looking for drama every single day, and the fans are hyped up, meanwhile, the players are excited about winning, they can still be focused. At least, I hope so:)

    Rhester;

You're absolutely right and for the team right now its important they focus on the Rox dictum:

    Stay Humble, Stay Hungry

But pardon us fans for a little irrational exuberence!

Sometimes it's hard to determine whether or not a team has crossed the line into over-confidence or if the team is simply basking in the excitement that came with the victories. I would be lying to say I wasn't concerned as rhester and some others are. The only consolation in all this, is that JVG is JVG, and hopefully he'll keep the troops in line.

Crikey who are you Alan Greenspan?

Lets hear it for Irrational Exuberance!

Seriously I totally agree and game 3 is pivotal. Lest we forget our very own Rox in 1994 came back from losing their first two at home to Phoenix so things can turn around.

Lets take care of bidness and get game 3!

Yeah. Don't smile, don't laugh, don't pump your fists, show no emotion, don't be happy, don't do interviews, don't sign autographs....blah, blah, blah.

Let these guys do their thing. If they want to pump their fists and get a little excited who cares? Maybe this team feeds off of such emotion.

You are telling me you aren't happy to see T-Mac out there yelling and pumping his fists? And Barry and Sura have always been fiery players.

I'll take this team over a stoic (no personality), business-like (boring) team (Spurs).

The question was asked and he answered it. I don't see any problem here.

He is just being confident in his team. I don't think he is disrespecting the Mavericks. He believes his team will win. Again I see nothing wrong with that.

I agree. Rockets fans of all people should know that a 2-0 lead doesn't mean jack. Hopefully van Gundy and TMac are instilling this in the rest of the team.
(I would feel much more comfortable if it were a 5 game series)

Dallas and the Rockets were two of the best teams all year on the road. I'm sure that the Rockets are aware of that, and hopefully all of our old guys who realize this may be their best chance to go all the way are going to continue to bring it. TMac is on a mission, so I'm not worried about him. But Dirk hasn't had his "big game" yet, which I assume is just a matter of time, as it is with all great players.

The Rockets are a streaky team. It seemed like every big winning streak this season was shortly followed by a 3-4 game losing streak. I don’t know if that’s due to overconfidence or not, but it’s important that they remain focused throughout the playoffs. Game 3 is very important, but even more important is how they bounce back in the event that they lose game 3. They can’t afford to go through one of their infamous slumps at any point during these playoffs.

this is the playoffs, this team is not going to let up one bit.

we won the first two games so you hear good things, get good vibes and all that, thats just part of the deal.

there's no overconfidence, or gloating... here there is maybe.. with the fans is where it's happening and so what, that's whats fun about being a fan. but fans don't need to be humble, forget that, if you are gonna be that way, don't even watch the rockets or go to the games and be a part of all that. the gloating and confidence and exuberance and all that comes with being a fan. so all that 'be humble' 'we havent do anything yet' stuff is for the coach and the team. if you want to be a scared fan be a scared fan but when your team does great whether its for a game or two games or whatever you're going to get positive feedback - they talk up their team, get excited about 'em, acknowledge their performances, it's a fun deal, and all that worry and being humble stuff is for the coach and for the players and I think they got it covered. so relax.

The Rockets fans should enjoy the wins and be high on the team.

The team got to stay focus and humble until we win the championship.

As I said in another thread : Compared to the shiate Rocks fans have been through the past few years this is very exciting.

I do understand the frustration about the hand sign though (even though I love the gesture & the excitement that surrounds it)...it does however harken back to the emptiness of Francis head-pound...Nice shot...but you ain't WON ****!

This team is full of veterans with a ton of playoff experience. I'm not worried about overconfidence. They are consummate professionals and know what it takes.

That being said, ya'll are worried about giving Dallas ammo? Look, talking a little smack is part of the game. That's how you get into people's psyche and you gotta take advantage of the intimidation factor when you got it.

But yes, it's fine line. But you gotta get as close to that line as possible to intimidate other teams and build your own confidence without going over the line. That's all we're seeing, folks.

im not even so sure about that. let the coach preach that to balance it out a bit. but once gametime rolls around, that humble talk better be just that - talk. you don't get to be the way this team is, get to where they've gotten, by being humble. you just don't. the teams that have been humbled are the teams that have played us. dallas over there, have you seen their faces, their body posture, the way they talk, thats being humbled. we don't want that.

They should agree that they can beat anyone. It's called confidence.

Does anyone HONESTLY believe that JVG will let anyone be over confident to the point of costing us games? How hard do you think he has already come down on guys?

I might worry about that with a different coach.

    I am overreacting.

    I admit it.

I think confidence is good. But I think confidence doesn't need to be spoken out into a microphone.

And I think celebrating for the players can end in the locker room after the game and then you put your game face on and get back to work.

You don't talk about your win 2 days later like look at us...

You focus on the task at hand. The celebration was fine on Saturday night now we have to stop.

You're absolutely right. WE have done nothing. The Rockets have beaten the Mavericks twice though. I'm glad they've done something. :D
