Madmax, actually the tone was a bit harsh, but I meant what I said, and it has been done forever in professional sports.

The problem here is that, until this game, our star players have been playing 40+ minutes a game (53 for Francis in the double OT game). It would be different if the fans had reason to expect this, but all indications up to yesterday were that the Rockets would at least try their best to win games, or at least put their players out on the floor. If you're going to pull crap like this, at least do it on the road instead of on Fan Appreciation Day in front of your own fans.

This was the last home game of the season... the stars should have played, if only briefly. I understand the need to lose, and I understand that we don't want to risk injuries... but would 20 minutes really have hurt anything? From what I understand, nobody was playing defense anyway... just let Francis try a 360 or something ;). If he makes it, fantastic. If he misses it... we're more likely to lose!

And if any of these guys would've been significantly hurt, the same people who are b****ing about them not playing would be b****ing about Rudy T playing them.

Mobley's flu looked really bad...

I just expected the guys to play, they had been in every other game. Why screw the fans in the last home game????

Is it official that they're out for the season? Is there any chance of them playing in Portland?

They'll prob keep the name, unless the Compaq name is not around.

As long as Compaq's are still made, the name will be around.

It's like when Ford bought Jaguar, they didn't change the name.

REmember the time the Spurs blew their final home game of the season against the Rockets to go 20-62 and get a better lottery position? They ende up getting some kid from Wake Forest who led them to a championship a couple years later.
