I am having surgery tomorrow, anyone have any experience being put under?

Hey I'm thinking of getting my knee scoped. How common is it to make them keep me awake.

 

You're in Minny, they're still 'experimenting' on patients over there, not quite the same as Houston's world-class medical center.

Hope it all goes well man. Been under once. Going under is fine, it's the waking up that sucked for me, really groggy and you feel like you closed your eyes and opened them a few seconds later

 

I went under during a wisdom tooth extraction (3 of them, hence going under).

I woke up in the middle of it screaming. The doc said, "Increase anesthetic!" - and then I faded back to sleep.

Kinda scary, but I'm still alive so it's awesome.

you really want to stay awake during an arthroscopic surgery? That really sounds horrible. In fact, I'm not even sure that's possible.

 

Hey DD, just letting you know that you'll be fine
I went thru surgery nov. 26th to put a "ilizarov" Frame around my left tiba/shinbone because it was 5 cm shorter than my right one(wasnt that obvious though) and i still have the frame on. Im removing it in 13 days and MAN AM I EXCITED LMAO. Anyways, when theyre about to make you sleep,or the anasthetics are gonna do their thing. There is nothing to worry about, you can talk to the medics if you want, but let me tell you this you wont remember falling asleep LOL its pretty cool. You do not feel any pain while theyre operating you. And i doubt you can dream Cuz you're kinda knocked out.I didn't dream so yea. And well,on ym experience, on my first wakeup, i threw up a bit, then went right back to sleep. So it's not a thing to worry about. You'll be alright.

I went under for a hydrocele (i know ouch!) and a hernia, which they found when they were operating on the hydrocele. This is basically what happens: they strap a bunch of monitoring equipment on you, put the IV in, talk to you for a phew seconds and the next thing you know your in a hospital bed with the best high you ever had.

 

Glad to hear you made it out okay. Now pray your boy V-Span doesn't get traded.
