He looked BAD tonight but I don't think he could help it. Did you see some of the replays where he tried to shuffle his feet or close out on a guy? He looked like the oldest player to ever play in the NBA. He couldn't even control his lower body. I actually felt bad for him for once because I didn't hear any excuses today from Tracy before the game. He just went out and gave it his all. His body just wouldn't let him be anything but a passer. The whole team made me damn proud tonight. This game would have been a W without the home cooking.
By not posting like yourself.............. Joker, He was hurting, Just as long as he is going nuts in the playoffs, He can do whatever the hell he wants..........imo.
Then he gets criticized for "not toughing it out." He's in a no-win situation.... unless he gets a triple-double every night (and even then, people will criticize him for not getting a quadruple double)
I have no problem with the idea that Tracy's knee was sore due to the number of games in such a short period of time. If that's the case, then Adelman needs to sit him (and, in fact, maybe he needs to sit for a long while rather than intermittently). That said, you know there's something wrong when a guy nearly making $20 million a year garners so many valid criticisms about his fire, effort and determination. Where there's smoke, there's probably at least a spark somewhere. I'd like to see Tracy get the playoff monkey off his back but I'd like him to show me (by way of his play and effort) that he wants the same.
I understand that some fans will never be happy. But Tracy can't be worried about us fans, he should be worried about the team. If it takes sitting out the 2cd game of back to backs for him to play hard in the games he does play in, then so be it. I just don't think there is an excuse for effort given.
its painful to see lebron doing his thing in the second half and tmac doing fck all. i was hoping to see good matchup between those 2. just disappointing, and i am huge tmac fan.
I totally agree with everything in bold. I don't think it's that McGrady doesn't care or isn't trying... his body is just breaking down. I think it's more than just the recovery from surgery. His body just wasn't built to last through 10+ years of NBA basketball like some other players. We need him to be successful but I have strong doubts that he will be the superstar we need this season to contend. The role we need from him is the same that the Celtics need from Pierce, the Lakers need from Kobe, the Cavs need from LeBron. Those guys bring it almost EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. They stay healthy enough to do that. McGrady's body is the reason his superstar talents can't show through consistently and I don't think there is any witch doctor out there that can do anything about it. His back, his knees, his shoulder... he just won't recover to the level that we need and this current team is doomed because of that reality.
I really hope Clutch just deletes any threads about gambling from now on. Artest looks like he dropped 50 large on the Rockets. Wow, someone who gets me.

I've noticed this season that Tracy always has an off game on the second of the back-to-back nights. He obviously does not recover as fast as a young healthy player does. There was a play tonight when McGrady stole the ball and had a clear path to the basket. If he were healthy he would have taken it all the way and dunked it, but tonight he chose to pass instead of driving to the bucket. That just told me right there that he was hurting. We all saw what a healthy TMac could do in these last few games. We need him to be healthy for the playoffs. On the second of the back-to-back nights, if Tracy needs to rest, let him rest. Start Artest; use Wafer; do what you have to.
Well, I've been on Tmac for taking those games off and I still believe he should have played but tonight was different. I actually believe he can recover and be what he was early last season. I just think his body is going to take longer to recover. I'll give up on him in another 4-6 weeks. All I know is that tonight he had nothing to give physically but he tried. That's all I ask of him.
I honestly don't think this team need Tmac as long as Yao is healthy and as long as we have Artest and Battier playing along with Yao. Tmac is like a second option if Yao struggle....he is not as efficient as Yao. And now he has turn himself into a one-dimensional player. Basically, he's all offense...and not much defense and he doesn't hustle and show no desire to play hard but that's not a surprise...he has no competitiveness nature. I think the Rockets should trade him for someone that at least can contribute to the team in a positively way. We could use a player or two to make this team even stronger. Do you think the Blazers would trade Brandon Roy for Tmac? Now if Tmac is reading this forum, i think he will come out the next day and give it his best because he knew the fans are frustrated. But i don't care anyway....i seen him done it before and then only to retrieve to his selfless act of that sleepy lazy non-competitiveness nature that will always in his blood. It's never constant or consistent.....tt's time to trade him!!!
If you play, then there is no injury excuse. Kobe shouldn't get credit for playing with a broken finger because it obviously didn't affect his game. Just as Tracy shouldn't get a pass because his knee is bothering him. The only injuries that matter are the ones that keep them off the court.
Whatever. Four games in five nights. First 6 PM start all season, Cavs got time to plan for this game, T-Mac didn't get any rest, and he is still not in basketball shape. That means his body gets sore, but that will be gone by January and T-Mac will be ready to rock (95%) by February. You guys can piss each other off, cuz I'm done with these threads. If you're a Rockets fan and you are wondering if T-Mac is done, HE IS NOT. Don't read these threads because it is a bunch of crap.
You say trade him and mention Brandon Roy, that is the problem with you fans. You think trading T-mac is going to bring in someone better well it's not. To even ask would Portland trade Brandon Roy for T-mac is insane and the problem with many posters on this board. They don't know **** about basketball.
I didn't believe it in past seasons but if McGrady magically returns to good health, this team has enough of a foundation to contend by the end of the season. I am simply praying for a minor miracle at this point. I am praying that McGrady's body gets healed enough by the postseason. I don't think it's a given that this will happen. We would've beaten the Cavs by 10 if McGrady wasn't struggling physically. We are at least as good as them.
You know, every season until now I have felt bad for Tmac. The organization tried to get him some good players. Now that the Rockets bring in real players, he struggles. I wont say that he is done for, but if he plays like this in Jan-Feb, consider the Rockets S.O.S in the playoffs. It makes me so mad because when Tmac gets the ball, you tell yourself "he's going to take it to the hole". FAIL! I havent seen him slam it once this season. Point- This is a make or break season for him... Rockets go as far as Tmac allows them to go....
regardless of what is up with t-mac, he played like garbage today, no question. he's not a star in the league if he only shows up when he feels like it or tries to play through an injury when he obviously has shown he's terrible when he tries to.
