Let's face it, Tracy is not a superstar any more, and will never come back to be a superstar any more. He might have his days for some of the games like the triple-doule he just got, but more time he will just be a average star in the league.
AHHHHHH! tonight was the epitome of bad coaching....Tmac has zero intensity, it looks like he's forced to play. i feel bad for yao.
here is something more disturbing. "In the past two games, McGrady has made 4 of 18 shots. After his four-point game on Tuesday in Cleveland, he said playing four games in five nights caught up to him and his sore left knee. On Friday, he said he felt "pretty good," except when returning to the game after breaks." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6182835.html pretty good?
Who cares if McGrady is giving people open shots, thats Skips job, T-mac was in the paint last night at least 5 times and drove for what could be easy layups then drops them off to Hayes in others who are trapped under goal by shot blockers, take the ball to the damn rim and draw a foul, everybody knows T-mac passes the ball out know, he would catch every team off guard if he slammed it home. I'm also tired of all the excuses for t-mac about playing 4 games in 5 nights. They are pros, they are in best shape and paid millions of dollars, it is their job to play, Mcgrady isn't only player in league to ever play 4 games in 5 nights injured, I say Artest has a more serious injury then T-mac and he busted his ass during that stretch. It all comes down to heart and T-mac just doesn't have it anymore, he needs a kick in the pants from Ron or someone to spark his fire.
Me Too.... I"m really close to saying just trade him, for someone like stephen jackson....doesn't really even matter.
I would just sit him......tell him that if he is going to go half assed, he can park the other half on the bench...and when he is ready to actually play hard, he can get off of it. I know Rick is a nice guy but I wish he was more of an arse chewer....for some reason Tmac has not had a tough love coach everyone caresses his nutsack, when he needs a boot in the arse. DD
thing is, although i definitely agree, I think TMac's personality would have the opposite reaction to this type of coaching then we want. I think he would go further into his shell and ask for a trade or something like that. I could be wrong but it seems like Tracy wouldn't respond well to a hard arse coach.
Possibly, but has anyone tried? I mean sit him, don't mince words, tell him he is sitting because he is not playing hard. If the media asks, tell them too, call him out, Phil Jackson style........because the way he is playing now, by not even trying, and coasting so often is maddening. He is the epitome of a front runner, when things are going well he feels great, any challenge and he wilts. DD
Well if he was playing like this I'm sure JVG would have sit him...their's no doubt in my mind. You either can play or not play it's pretty simple. Maybe T-Mac should take a page out of Artest's book, if you can't go ALL OUT don't play no matter if it's for one game or ten.
It is a quandry though, because he is out of shape and too heavy, so if you sit him, he is not going to get skinnier. The Rockets are in a tough situation with him. DD
Practice. I understand there is no substitution for in game work, but practice. He can work hard in practice, lose the weight, and get his knee stronger. But i wonder how hard some of the superstars in this league actually work during practice.
During the regular season there are very few practices, and the ones they do have are usually shoot arounds or walk throughs. They don't go hard in practice during the season. DD
True, which is why i love hearing players that show up early and stay late after practices or games to work on their game. Yao is known for staying after practice to work on his game. My main point is, if he really did want to lose the weight, strengthen the knee, and make himself better, he could do it without hurting the team while doing it.
But he didn't do the rehab in the summer, and the team has made tons of alluding to being worried about him being dedicated to doing it DURING the season. DD
Well if Adelman insists on playing him limit his minutes to around 20 a game until he can prove he deserves more. If he would quit dominating the ball I would have no problem with him playing big minutes. He was a ballstopper everytime he touched the ball last night. Is it really so hard to catch a pass and keep the ball moving either to Yao, penetrate and kickout, or just pass? He just needs to play like a role player until his knee starts to heal.
There was an article that mentioned JVG used time in his office every morning thinking up things to say to get Tmac motivated. I applaud JVG for the effort but man, Tmac is one weak Mo-fo. DD
