The point is is that Scola doesn't need anyone to look after or take up for him. When he gets blindsided from the back, then his teammates will step in. Otherwise, Scola will get in anyone's face and not back down.
I agree with the thread starter. Luis was getting gang banged. It was obvious they had a plan to get inside the rockets head. And Luis was a target. Someone should have stood up ala Steve Francis. You can't just punk a teammate and sit pat and doing nothing.
Oh and I don't mean after the Fisher/Scola incident. But when Odom, Vujicic(sp?), and Walton were jawing with Scola.
He WAS blind sided and no it doesn't necessarily mean getting hit from behind. And Scola didn't back down from the ENTIRE LAKERS TEAM. But it would have been nice to let the guy know that he is not alone. Not ONE Rockets player was by his side through the sequence up until much AFTER he was hit.
I agree to a certain extent. You can't let one of you teammates get hounded like that all game. But if you'll remember, after Scola and Walton got into it, Artest came over and pulled Scola away and they both just ran down the court. I think Artest basically told him 'we're better than that'. I think our guys didn't want to sink to their level and beat them w/ basketball, not BS fake thuggery.
let the dogs out. This is exactly the type of game i wish we have some tough dudes out there. Heck even Joey Dorsey will be cool out there. Sometimes its all about intimidation and not the real fight. I will guess that Ron will be playing very physical in the coming games.
But then you are starting a fight. I'm proud of Rockets and the way they took cheapshot after cheapshot by those lowly lowly Fakers. You are tough when you can take shot not when you give.
I somewhat agree with the OP. No one wants to see these kinds of threads of course, but I was kind of thinking the same thing. Even when Odom and Walton got in Scola's face, no Rockets got involved other than Scola. Why did no one stand up for Scola in any of the many times the Fakers tried to start **** with him.
So if dog bites you and you are going bite it too?we have class,we are not fakers, one thing that you can do is beat them on the court. BEAT LA,GO ROX!!!!!!!!!!!
the closest player was brooks...and if i remember correctly he turned around immediately either to call time out or to look for a ref, but brooks couldn't do anything, it is not his demeanor to confront others, i am not sure if ron was in the game, but i am sure he helped out, the play was so random i don't think anyone expected it. i am mostly surprised that scola didn't jump up immediately, but i think HE was so shocked he didn't know WHAT to do, yah we could have jumped up there, but it's not like they got into a scuffle after the foul so there wasn't much need for it, ron stood up for scola, battier and himself when he went after kobe, he was sending a message
If a dog bites you, you don't bite the dog back, you destroy it. That way the dog does not bite anyone again, ever.
Personally I'm proud of them. They handled a lot of adversity and still kept a game that rewarded the dirty team within the realm of winning, without losing their cool, when most would have. I hope we take that feeling into game 3 and use it against them on the court. The Refs will be looking to "clean things up" a bit, with Stu reviewing and handing out warranted suspension(s), and if we show "We're strong enough to take it and keep playing NBA basketball" instead of "NOW WE are going to start playing round", then I like our chances to hold serve and take this in 6.
Sigh No one said anything about hitting back. Do you guys not understand the word Solidarity? No one stood by Scola, thats all. As for you last line about tough part, sound really cool but don't ever tell that to someone who is getting beat up.
btw that was just a bad example you gave. I only expect the rockets to support Scola, like Yao does for all his teammates and not hit anyone.
