I was under the impression that there were a number of lawsuits where companies tried to control how other compainies link to their websites and all were rejected. Sort of like making some big painting on your house and getting pissed off if someone takes a picture for a magazine.

In otherwords, when it is placed on a website, that is the same as placing it in public. Mr_Oily only placing a link to the guys page which is automatcally replicated on this machine -- not the same as if he copied the image and placed it in his webserver, which would, in fact, be copyright infringement.

Am I completely wrong, or offbase, or did they change something while I wasn't looking?

OK, but we can still make fun of the copyright holders when they act like sissies, can't we?

Look what the guy put on his site! This wasn't there earlier today:

    Terms of Service
If you want permission to use an
image, article, or software off this
site. Ask first, 90% of the time
you can. If you want my complete
    TOS for artwork, articles, and
software. Send $3.00 (US) for the
    entire 47 page legal document
    containing all copyright information
    and acceptable use polcies.

and he's removed all his warez, crack codes and whatever other illegal stuff he had on his site.

If this guy would've kept quiet, the squirrel thread would have been lost in the archives. Now, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.

If idi's still reading, I just thought you may want to clean up your grammar a bit. You have an incomplete sentence. It should go, "...If you want my complete TOS for artwork, articles, and software, send $3.00 (US) for the entire 47 page legal document containing all copyright information and acceptable use polcies...."

Also, for those who know, is it possible to enforce Terms of Service that you don't publish? It couldn't be considered a binding contract of any sort. Especially considering it wouldn't cost him anything to either post it on his site or email a soft copy to anyone who requests it.

Ahhhh, but that's where you are wrong JV. See, evidently this guys pays $1000.00 per kb transferred. Can you imagine how large this 47 page TOS is? Why, it's gotta be at least 100k. Now think about how much it costs him to email it, or even post it on his page. Silly silly man...

    Crispee:

If you're still reading this thread, could you explain the situation?

I'm confused now, since three separate people who usually have pretty valid information have weighed in differently on the issue. Is it sort of "still in the air" or something?
