I was tempted to make a snide comment in the vaccination thread but didn't want to derail it. I see a lot of parallels between the anti-vacc position and gun ownership. People make a personal decision (based on specious logic regarding personal safety) that in isolation can be (though it isn't always!) pretty harmless. But when you have mass participation in either one, it creates a severe public health hazard. People are ready to accept the argument that we must abrogate the rights of individuals to refuse vaccinations in order to protect public health, but bristle at the same logic being applied to gun ownership.
