He is the team leader, and probably our best overall player, but he sucks on D - and he is not held accountable at all. I want a new coach ........NOW! DD
I don't think anyone is questioning that he IS the leader, the question really is SHOULD he be the leader. You put arguably the player with the most issues in a role in which the younger players are supposed to look to him as their leader and exemplar. Nah... pass. You are right though that it is Silas' fault as he put him in the role and is complicit in continuing to allow him to make the same mistakes with no accountability (for him or other players for that matter). I don't care as much about the losing (expected it and wouldn't mind another high draft pick) but the lack of structure and chaotic nature of this team really frustrates me and I'm down for a coaching change now as well.
couple ‘o things here: 1. If you’re the head honcho on the worst team in basketball, then you suck as a head honcho, and the team needs to move on from you, like we did with last year’s head honcho (Wood)… except… 2. … KPJ is not paid as a head honcho, he’s paid as a complimentary player. The team valued you as a complimentary player and you accepted that valuation. The organization needs to try to establish a pecking order here, otherwise, you get all this chaos and confusion with roles, egos and personal dynamics.
Could Tate play PG? At this point, I would rather see Boban play PG than watch another minute of KPJ's crap.
Not a chance. KPJ & JG are going to be playing off Sengun half the time. I mean, that's where this SHOULD be headed.
This is where it should have been headed. But I have very, very serious doubts that KPJ would accept that change in role. His ego is the problem. You can tell from that "head honcho" statement. There is no world in which KPJ or Green should ever be allowed to ignore or even wave off Alpi in good position asking for the ball. I think Green would be happy and would follow the marching orders and would benefit greatly from it. But KPJ - skills-wise, it would be a good fit. But any even slight reduction in role, I think he would be sulking and moping and it would turn ugly quickly. And on top of that, him acting like that has a negative impact on Green as well.
IMO where TheGoodGuys oughta be headed is INTO an OFFENSIVE system (and out of the offensive, homophonically speaking, invisible system [sic] )
You might wanna stop acting like a new coach will transform him into James Harden. He has worked with coaches who are not named Stephen Silas before and we all know how those experiences ended up for him. Silas is literally the best possible coach he can ever work with and yet he still sucks.
Calling KPJ a point guard is like calling Jalen Green a center. I'm finally completely done with this dude. Screw the potential "talent" just get a f'ing point guard on this team already damnit!!
While I am no fan of Porter, he is still Number 3rd in WinShares this season after Alperen and Kenyon Jr. according to BB reference. Eason and Garuba rounding out the Top 5. Green and Jabari come next but they are heavily featured as well and IMO their inconsistency is the real problem among others. KPJ can be real good as a situational starter, catch and shoot and bench guy, most agree here, he is a minor Triple Dub threat on some nights. You get rid of the coach and establish a provisional hierarchy, that is the first step, not difficult. For some reason Stone just 'scoots' by.
You're right Silas is the worst coach for him. This whole team could use more structure and Silas does not appear to be it. But are you really sure that KPJ has matured enough to be coached by a disciplinarian like Pop? I'm not sure, but I definitely have my doubts. I would love to see a more rigid, X&O's coach take on this roster and mold some of these young players, but I'm not sure that that would work out so well for KPJ. Less usage and depending on who the Rockets draft, possibly even moved to the bench. Not sure how he would take not being 'Head Honcho'.
Popovich is the best coach in the NBA because he had no business with players like KPJ throughout his all career. So if Popovich starts coaching the Rockets today, cutting KPJ from the lineup will be one of his first adjustments to this team.
While changing the roster is inevitable, changing the coach isn't. I would like to see Gordon plus whoever traded to get a better fitting roster. Maybe we even get someone back in the deal that changes things. In any event, I would like to see Silas coach a better balanced team for a bit before I join the Silas hate crowd.
