I’m appreciative for all that Ime has done but I honestly believe

Ime has flaws like all coaches, and definitely needs an offensive coordinator because he has very few chops on that side of the court. However, not just any coach could've turned us around the way he did. Put some damn respect on his name, Ime Udoka is the Rockets franchise player, believe that ****.

Well I was mostly throwing shots at those that have said so.. But since you responded I will mention that you stating "That any proven solid coach could’ve turned this team around after Silas", insinuates that you're saying he's overrated due to you thread title..

İme is a top 10 coach for sure, probably not top 5 but you could easily argue for spots 5 to 7. You can’t always get the best. We could have ended up with a mediocre coach.

Ime has things he's good at and things he's terrible at. Some of the things he's terrible at might prevent the Rockets from ever winning anything.... but the good will convince people to stay with him.

...talk about losing touch with reality. Geez. The reality is most of the players on this team aren't that great. The fact we ended up going from very nearly an NBA record for the worst team in NBA history over 3 seasons to a 2nd seed in a loaded West despite:

    - a bust in Jalen
    - a bust in Jabari
    - a bust in Reed
    - suffering some horrendous decision making from two talented but very flawed players in Tari and Cam
    - some very streaky shooting in DB and Fred - two guys who were shunned from their playoff teams
    - bringing in another very limited player everyone thought was done for his career in Adams
    - and two very good but very limited players in Alpi and Amen(neither can score reliably outside of 10ft of the hoop)

...what we just witnessed pushing a VERY tough GS team with glimpses of peak Curry, DPOY candidate Draymond, and "Playoff Jimmie" to 7 games - well this was a borderline miracle. Houston is a very good team despite a bunch of very flawed players. You even saw it with how awkward the marketing of the GS/Hou series was. The announcers had to struggle to say positive things about Jalen Green as our "budding star" - it was so cringey.

I will admit that part of what made Houston successful were two relatively simple things:
    - Ime got everyone to "buy into" defense, hustle, and playing hard as an identity - that is a necessary requirement of title winning teams and Silas failed miserably at this
    - Houston had a deep young team that could afford to play that high energy defensive style for longer periods of time than teams with less depth could handle

Give all the credit to Ime - young teams don't often take great team to 7 games - not after going down 3-1. The fact Ime got this young team of early 20 somethings to play with confidence and apply pressure to GS after being left for dead was huge and is something you don't see a lot of coaches doing. Honestly, what Ime has showed us is exactly what was missing from the Harden years so there is value that Ime is bringing that not just any coach brings.

He needs to improve his offense design for sure and it's hard to change a person's personality, so let's just hope he can be less stubborn in the future.

But why not focusing on the priorities right now? means upgrade our backcourt and locate our true franchise player.

Some of the fans here are willing to give Jalen another year to try while not willing to give Ime another year?

Calling Sheppard a bust simply because Ime was too dumb to play him.... in an attempt to defend Ime is certainly a choice.

Which puts him at basically at about the same level as JVG and Kevin McHale. Neither of whom has been put on a pedestal that Udoka seems to be put on.

Exactly a 2 seed just got spanked by a 7 seed.........that is not good performance in the playoffs.

I'm less concerned about that and more focused on him actually fixing his mistakes. Action over words. He said throughout this series that he was open to changing the lineup and going deeper than 8 guys, but he never really did that til Game 6. Even when Aaron got minutes in Game 2 and 5, it was due to Amen's foul trouble and Jalen banging knees with Curry. And Stephen played 31 minutes in Game 6 in part due to Dillon's foul trouble.

He's very stubborn and dead set in his ways. That's a strength in some areas like in getting guys to buy into playing defense and being accountable. But it can be a detriment in other areas like the ones I'd mentioned.

Very good point! All things that I have been saying. You can not continue to throw the ball down low to Alpi and let him dribble for 10 seconds to try and get a basket. It doesn't help him, it doesn't help the team.....THAT OFFENSE IS ANTIQUATED

ALSO, JVG, Thibideau, and Ime have the same mindset of not using their bench. I think Cam could have definitely helped during this series.

IT WAS WELL KNOWN THAT JALEN STRUGGLES AGAINST GS. This yr, he had games of 7, 9, 14 and 21 against the Warriors during rhe regular season, so why not look to go deeper into your bench from the start?? I would have had Cam to get ready during Game 1 as a precautionary.

Exactly! The creator of this thread is in his/her feelings because their favorite player didn't get playing time in the playoffs.

Dumb take...yall keep forgetting this was our evaluation year. We need to see which of our young core would show up in the playoffs. Now the verdict is in, time for the front office to make necessary changes!

Ime was the right choice…for THIS group. My question is when we potentially bring in a Giannis or KD who have won a championship and they challenge him and his decisions how will he respond? Yeah all these young guys and veteran role players will listen and stay in line, but a proven superstar talent will not sit quiet when things are questionable. Can he manage that type of pressure because that is what championship coaches have to deal with.
