    C: Omer Asik
    PF: Kevin McHale
    SF: Chandler Parsons
    SG: Kevin Martin
    PG: Jeremy Lin

Key reserves: Patrick Patterson, Carlos Delfino, Jeremy Lamb, Tony Douglas

This team suddenly would look pretty damn good, wouldn't they? Who is the Kevin McHale of 2010s when you need him? :(

Bench still sucks, perhaps a 3-6 seed, 2nd round exit at best.

If McHale was younger, he would have been a better coach for us. He is past his prime.

You get a better bench and we're championship contenders. McHale would make all the bigs in the NBA right now look like idiots when he's in the post.

Would the young Kevin McHale be old Kevin McHale's looper?

You want to know how good McHale was, and whether we'd be a contender

consider this versus the OP lineup

If we had a 3rd-yr Kevin McHale on draft day, I think the lineup right now would be

Dragic (he stays because of Howard)
    Martin
    Iguadala
    Patterson
    Howard

Still with Parsons, DMo and White, and some other free agent.

That's how good McHale was. The trade for Howard would NOT have needed LA. McHale was superior to Bynum so Philly throws more into the pot.

Good god that pass at the 3 minute mark from Bird is obscene.

I think he meant for the bench, Jones over Pat.

I am sorry but I wouldn't trade McHale for Howard. McHale > Howard IMO.

regardless, my lineup is better than the OPs.

what i suggested was the trade nets Howard and Iguadala, because McHale >> Bynum so Morey gets Philly to poney up more to pry away Afflalo from Denver to give to ORL. In the blockbuster, we get both Iguadala and Howard...for McHale, Lowry (or Toronto's future) and picks. We solidify two positions and lose one (Dragic makes up for losing Lowry)

    lol...this is fun.

Players of Prime McHale's generation were very fundamentally sound. Given how successful he was, I say this team would be awesome and a good contender for the championship

    On 56 and 16 performance:

"I'm basically a role player," McHale said. "I suppose it will sink in tonight that, for one day, at least, I'm up there with all those greats.

"The only time I ever scored that many points before was in a pickup game when I was 12. And then we played almost five hours."

Who talks like that anymore nowadays? Would the nba even welcome this attitude today?

On a side note, McHale had 22 points in the first quarter, just one off the club mark. He stole the limelight from Larry Bird, who had one of his normal days. Bird had 30 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

IMO playing the fast pace as the 80s was not easy, crisp passing were needed against physical defense of the era.

Just no, if it's up to me, I wouldn't do the trade. You always win trades by getting the better player, not 2 lesser players. The only player I would trade McHale for would be Olajuwon.

    C: Hakeem Olajuwon
    PF: Patrick Patterson
    SF: Chandler Parsons
    SG: Kevin Martin
    PG: Jeremy Lin

Key reserves: Omer Asik, Terrence Jones, Carlos Delfino, Jeremy Lamb, Tony Douglas

This looks pretty damn good too. :)
