You're delusional if you think we'd be able to beat them 4 times, we would need a half decent bench along with CP3 and Howard and in that scenario we don't.
I think one thing that people forget is that once you assemble a super team, aging vets tend to take under market value to chance a ring. Sure, you would hope to re-sign Garcia, but you can probably add even better players. I think the Rockets bench would end up looking a little better than that.
i'd add josh smith and replace beverly with deron williams coming off the bench. then we might have something. =/
LeBron >> Harden Dwight > Bosh CP3 > 32 year old Wade Parsons > 38 year old Ray Allen Heat's bench > Rockets' bench (barring some MLE/league minimum acquisitions to shore things up for Houston) The Heat would still have the best player on on the court and the better bench. I think it would be very close. I'd say 50/50 if the Rockets didn't improve the bench or PF position. 60/40 Rockets if they make some nice acquisitions with the MLE and league minimum spots.
Your right, in my Hypothetical Cisco resigns for the room exception. That is certainly not a lock but I don't think it's out of the question either. Parsons, Smith and Beverly will not be cut. Anderson does get cut but I'm thinking there is a more than reasonable chance that he is still available once the D12 & CP3 chips fall. If he is available then I think there is just as good of a chance that the Rockets can resign him to the vet minimum as anyone else.
Really... Roy Hibbert looked like an All Star against Miami and he's not. Howard would have a field day. And Wade looks like he has one foot in the coffin as far as his basketball career is concerned. If he has to guard Harden or CP3 one of those dudes will have a field day (and which Harden had a field day against Miami with this team as constructed)... Smashed... I don't think so.
I don't know who would win but I do know it would be the highest nationally televised rated Finals in NBA history. And we would also see that game on Christmas day.
How bout line them up by position ..... Chalmers - CP3 - Advantage Houston Wade - Harden - Advantage Houston Lebron - The Mad Chicken - Advantage Miami Bosh - ???? - Advantage Miami ???? - Howard - Advantage Houston Current bench .... Only because of Ray Allen I give the advantage to the Heat. Lets try the same situation with the current Spurs .... cause you'd have to beat them to get to the Heat. CP3 - Parker - Push Harden - Ginobli - Houston Parsons - Leonard - Push Duncan - ???? - Spurs Howard - Splitter - Houston Bench - Spurs.
Was it during playoffs? No.... Hell tony parker suffered a bruise too in game 3 against golden state... But hey he still played game 4 and dropped 17 and 3. look at that his team is also in the finals. People need to stop making excuses for Lin. He's thrown enough of them around and like most piles of sh"t they all stink. Far better players have worn a Houston Rockets jersey. When it came playoff time they sucked it up and played. Two seasons in the Nba and he's only played partially in a series.. What's next season's exxcuse... If we get a chance to get cp3 or even parker we take it. We face Miami and we make Lebron hurt. We will make bosh wade and all those chumps except battier hurt and cry. Why? Cause this city is Clutch. We build our teams with players that have heart not lame excuses and bruises. The city of Houston is stronger than that. The people of Houston are tougher than that. The 99ers here still believe... that's why this board still exists and we're not rooting for the Louisville Rockets. It's time for everyone else in here to believe too. The city of Miami and the entire Heat Franchise can suck on our Red Rockets.
Threads like this are pointless. We really don't know who would win in a series. When the Lakers put Howard, Nash, Kobe and Pau Gasol on the same team, everyone thought they were a sure-thing to win the championship, but ultimately the chemistry was lacking. OP's lineup has star power and talent, but who really knows if they can pull it together with the right offensive and defensive system to beat the Heat in a series?
I know you don't like Lin. But this post just doesn't make sense other than obvious trolling. Are you aware that Chris Paul has missed a ton more games than Lin due to injuries?
Professional sports are worthless .... outside of the entertainment factor. This thread is no different.
Next year? No. 2 years later, I think we can be the best team in the NBA. Next year we'll have to deal with a bare cupboard in terms of role players. In 2014 offseason, we'll have multiple picks(1st and I think 2 2nds), MLE, and lesser exception. While by then Wade will be quite old, and Lebron/Bosh on the downside of their careers. I would feel similar even if we only get Dwight Howard in terms of competitive ability. Next season would still be quite bare in terms of help. But the year after is when Morey can start working his magic on getting adequate role players to surround our stars with.
Certainly up there in the top 5! Damn, that'd be fun to watch, although I'd miss Lin, who would be nice to have as a 6th man. -Paul murders whatever Miami has pretending to be a point. Advantage Rockets. -Harden and Wade have a battle royal, if Wade is truly healthy, and his experience would likely give him the edge if he's close to 100%. Harden is still learning his trade. Anderson is still an unknown quantity, with Allen close to the end of his career, but still able to uncork a really good game from time to time. I think Paul, Beverly, and Harden could switch off on Wade. Heck, Chandler could spend time guarding him, except James will give him more than he can handle. Possibly a wash. If Wade has declined and is gimpy, advantage Houston. -Parsons has hell guarding James, of course. Big advantage to the Heat, even if Parsons and Garcia have the series of their lives. Garcia's defense was a nice surprise against OKC. You hope to keep James occupied on defense and hope he gets tired. Don't expect it. -There's a big hole at the 4 the Rockets have to hope is filled by someone by the time of the playoffs. Advantage Heat, unless someone steps up, or we get someone with talent and experience to play there because they will do it for cheap for the chance of getting a ring, ala Miami. -Howard kills whoever Miami puts at the 5 spot. Big advantage to Houston. We clearly own the 1 and the 5. Miami owns wherever James plays, let's assume it's the 3. Miami most likely has the advantage at the 4. I think it comes down to the matchup at the 2. If Harden is healthy and improved, and I'm assuming he will be, and that Wade had further declined, then Harden could be the difference. That, coaching, and bench production. Clearly, a bunch of variables, but I'd pay a lot to see the series. We'd have a puncher's chance. That's all you can ask for from this young team. I agree with Meh, who posted above that the next season we'd be a better team. I'd feel much better about our chances. Still, give me the Finals! There's nothing like it.
