Are people that dense? Go learn the meaning of hypothetical. Hypothetically, if Greene is as good as he was in that summer league game, then the Rockets would have found not only a gem, but possibly a franchise player. It's INCREDIBLY unlikely, but the point of this topic was hypothetically. So sure, if Greene was magically the next prolific scorer, the Rockets could very well explore trade options for T-Mac, or any other number of options.

yes you should explore trades if greene is a superstar-caliber player. but that's one SL game. he has to do in the NBA game for a year or so before we even think about hypothetical.

    the OP is reaching.

ill go ahead and succumb to the thread:

    i wouldnt trade mcgrady.

    #1 reason - 2010 free agency

add that to greene, yao, and battier and you've got something there.

One game in the summer league, and we are ready to dump our allstar SG in favor of a rookie?

Nah. Knee-jerk is making a prediction off a single game, not posing a hypothetical question.

Greene could be that prolific but I doubted in this year. Maybe or it would be optimistic to say he could be there in a year or two. We'll see how he fare soon
when the season start. At the moment, to me, I think TMac should stay and should not be traded for anyone from Piston.

I think you're onto something with this thread!

I'd like to add what if Steve Novak finally realizes his potential and puts up Larry Bird type numbers? Imagine those possibilities, especially once Aaron Brooks becomes the next Isiah Thomas. Now our needs at the 3 and PG position are stocked, and we can start exploring trades for an elite inside scorer.

HYPOTHETICALLY, let's say that the Spurs bite on a Luther Head, Steve Francis, and Bobby Jackson for Tim Duncan trade. I know it's a lot for us to give up, but we need all those players to make the salary cap work, and SA might require us to throw-in a second round pick as well.

With a line-up equivalent of Isiah Thomas, Tracy McGrady, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, and Yao Ming, hypothetically, the Rockets win 75 games and lock-up the homecourt throughout the playoffs.

This opens up the ultimate hypothetical scenario. Cameron Diaz and Jessica Alba show-up at my place to watch the Rockets last game in route to a 16-0 playoff championship run. Their only condition is that we have a menage trois during halftime and that I don't get mad if they kiss after every free throw made.

    I love hypotheticals...

I don't understand why you're being so sarcastic with your comparisons.

Comparing the idea of Donte Greene being a prolific scorer to Jessica Alba or Cameron Diaz is kind of weird.

But anyways, hes listed at 6'11- hes quick, athletic, incredible shooting touch from the three and free throw. I don't see why it sounds so crazy to some of you. The tools are there.

Sure its based on one summer league game, but if you're a die hard Rockets fan snoozing through the summer. You shouldn't be able to help and look ahead like I am.

    IF...............................

Greene is really this prolific...............40 points a night/2 points per shot,

    THEN.................

We aren't making any trades involving him, McGrady, Yao, Battier, Scola, Rafer.

We are winning the trophy in June of 2009.

    IF....................he is that prolific.

    BUT..........

    He ain't.

Obviously, the OP and people posting know it is just one summer league game and that Greene is still young and underdeveloped. I don't get why some people just can't deal with that.

Personally, if Greene was that good I'd also say keep T-mac for at least another year, and see what the team can do. He will eventually become a massive expiring contract anyway.

Contribute as a backup SF and replace Tmac at the SG is a big leap. Even the original thread creator acknowledges that the idea is preposterous. There are people on this board who find it annoying that anyone would say Battier is no longer needed because of Greene. And now someone is suggesting, even hypothetically that Tmac is expendable. What makes it even more preposterous is he has Greene slotted at the 2 were he can't even dribble. You might as well say, Hypothetical: If Francis comes back from injury and he plays better than he ever has than we can trade Tmac? Most people would consider that a stupid thread.

Yes people are excited about Greene and I am one. But not because I think he can score 40 a night and replace Tmac but because one of the Rockets needs was an upgrade at the backup 3 and before last night I didn't think that would come from greene. Now I like many others see a real possibility he can contribute this year. Contribute as a backup SF and replace Tmac at the SG is a big leap.

Let's tank the season less than 15 games into it for an inknown commodity! Not smart.

j/k, OP. i sure hope that he's as good as she showed yesterday, but only time will tell. if anything, i'd make the trade b/c you'd be getting at least 75+ games out of BOTH the star PG & SG/SF instead of maybe 65-70 games from TMac.

LOL, I'll never argue about hypotheticals again.

    Fun thread... proceed.
