Richardson seems to be a pretty consistent 18+ ppg, 5+ rpg, 3+ apg, 1 + spg type player. Probably got paid accurately. Murphy is a great rebounder when healthy, and can score, but not at the highest %. Clearly, without the picks thought (maybe one in 2005, one in 2007, whatever), you wouldn't do it. First round GS Warriors draft picks ALWAYS have a lot of value.
I still have reservation about Tmac being the leader of a champion team. In fact, I trust Yao more than Tmac.
I know it's only one game. But if you have watched the Warriors and Raptors game today, You wouldn't want any of their players in your team. Jason Richardson didn't play. But their another star, Troy Murphy, was 2-14 and the whole 4th quarter was nothing but garbage time. The whole Raptors team just had a field day in the paint. It's not like they were playing the Spurs or the Suns. It was the freaking Raptors.
Someone just proposed this trade (more or less) to Palilo on ESPN 790. It wasn't me, in case anyone was wondering what my voice sounded like. Oh, Palilo said it wasn't absurd but there was no chance it would happen.
Fast break attack deponds on players age.None of players will always playe like Suns for a long time. It's balance of defence and offence. You will get an answer when the playoffs begins. Trade rejected.
IF we trade Yao Ming, we have to (1) receive an established star player (2) get rid of most (if not all) of our bad contracts (3) receive at least one high first-round draft pick. Now this trade gives us a good draft pick and nothing else. I don't consider JRich a star player. Murphy is a good rebounder, but both his offense and his defense stink. Speedy is best used as a reserve. And we don't even get rid of Mo's fat contract? Hell No. Come back with a better offer.
Stupidestestest trade ever, how bout we trade Tracy McGrady, Yao and ever first round pick from here until 2020 for Kobe and Cash.
I think you guys overestimate Yao's potential and/or value from a purely basketball perspective. Let's forget the monetary discussion here - as in, of course Les would never do this, he's milking the Yao situation for as much moola as he can. What star player could we get in return for Yao? Kobe - no. Lebron - no. Duncan - no. Shaq - no. Wade - no. Amare - no. Jermaine O'neal - no. Shaq - no. Dirk - no. So then your left with psuedo-star players that are either nearing the end of their career or at the very beginning and you never know with that or you probably just don't want? Ray Allen - do you want him? Chris Webber - same? Peja - same (maybe Webber plus Peja, though?)? Gasol - same? Stephon Marbury - same? Paul Pierce - same? AI - same? Emeka Okafor - could you get him, would you want to? Etc. I can understand your desire to get rid of more bad contracts. I also appreciate that there may be a better deal out there, but I don't think you are going to get a superstar in return. So you're left with either trading with a crappy team for their best players and multiple draft picks (maybe Charlotte would do an Okafor pplus multiple draft picks plus other fillers type thing)... ...OR, the one guy left out, Kevin Garnett. If Minnesota continues to "suck", you have to think KG will be getting frustrated, fans will be getting frustrated, management will be getting frustrated, etc. It could be very similiar to how we got McGrady. Of course, sending Yao to Minnesota would be a pretty dick move, but that may be possible. The other option is of course to keep Yao + T-Mac together and tinker around them, but this is a hypothetical that ignores that possibility. In all honesty, assuming we could actually land a Stromile Swift type player with the MLE, I much prefer that option.
I wouldn't make these trades even if it was only for Bobblehead dolls of the players. How do you guys dream up these trades, pick names out of a hat.
can you be a Yao hater and still be a ROcket fan? I think that the Yao haters, like Yao alright, but just really HATE the YOFs !
Y - Yao O - Only F - Fan YOF (n)(adj): (1) Clutch BBS GATM poster who only follows the Rockets because they like Yao Ming. (2) Fan of Yao Ming who generally dislikes hearing any critisim of Yao, even construcutive or positive. (3) Poster ofter found in BBS posting fake stories and rumors that Yao is unhappy in Houston because (a) they think that type of post will "teach" Houston fans to respect the New Gentle Giant, or (b) because they want him to sign with their hometown team if he becomes a free agent. example usage "The YOF suggested that since a handful of people on the Clutchfans BBS posted some negative comments about Yao, that all Houston fans wanted him traded." "He doesn't even know that Kenny Smith used to play for the Rockets, he must be a YOF !"
