I'm thinking of what deal we could make with the Wizards for Kwame and Hayes... Mo or Ho together with the 1st rd pick or TE or Spoon/Gaines?
No. All that does is "speed" up the process of adding quality role players around Tmac. But in the process it tears down one of our foundation pieces. We are not going to trade Yao. That is a given. BUT if one were to enertain the possibility with a fantasy trade, we would have to be given either a current OR potential foundation piece as part of the package. GS has nothing like that. Richardson is the closest thing and he is just an average SG in my opinion. The better solution is patience. Give the Rockets 2 years worth of drafts, MLE additions of quality players and some time to tweak the roster with a few trades like the Barry/Lue trade and viola, you will have some quality role players surrounding Yao and Tmac. Patience is tough. I am pretty patient and even I am getting antsy on the team under performing.
I wouldn’t do that particular trade. Perhaps if Golden State were bad enough that it were a sure thing they would get a top 2 pick, I would consider it. I disagree with the idea that any trade not involving Duncan, KG, or Shaq would a terrible. I think there are far too many people using that phrase “unlimited potential” when describing Yao. There are limits to his potential, and it’s not all mental (stamina, speed, slow reflexes, bad hands, etc.). I would wait to see how the NBA playoffs shape before contemplating trading Yao. It seems to me the NBA is doing everything possible to move the game to a more guard friendly league. Last year the Pistons won with 2 guards leading the way and a 6’8 center. This season you have a whole lot of small ball teams with early success. I’m curious whether having a true center is as importance as it once was.
I don't see how that's a better deal. Marbury doesn't excite me. I'd actually be more excited by Troy Murphy than Marbury, despite the fact that Marbury is more skilled. What else do you think we could get? It seems like clearly you agree that there is no way Yao would merit a super-star MVP type player in return at this stage. When Sacramento losses in the playoffs again this year, would you see them doing a Peja/Webber/Miller combo for Yao/Taylor, etc?
I would seriously have to consider the first proposal. No way in hell I would consider the trade that Hottoddie through out there. Muphy and Richardson are both young and could help this team inside and out. Plus 2 first round picks...one unprotected could really rebuild this team. Still its very diffucult to give up on Yao when he is still so young.
They together got 130 mil ~ 140 mil for the next six years from Mulling. Murphy is also injury-prone.
For those two players it would not bother me becuase we would basically be set at three positions for the next 10 years. Plus two additional 1st round picks. Not bad at all.
That is a little unfair don't you think? Outside of last year when he had a significant injury the guy has missed a total of 4 games in 2 and a half seasons.
