I'm near Willowbend and West Bellfort in Westbury.

Lost power at 12:30 AM as the shizznit was hitting the fan. Got it back at 7:30 PM Saturday. Got my cable TV back at 1PM Sunday.

It was nice and spooky drinking vodka and cranberry juice with the power off, candles lit, the wind HOWLING, and listening to KTRH as the storm blew thru before daylight on Saturday.

Lots of tree debris everywhere. Johnston Middle School had a piece of their awning sheared off and it landed in the front yard of a house across Manhattan Ave.

All in all, Houston dodged a major bullet, and we should all feel very very lucky. I feel for the people of East Texas and Western Louisiana.

I'm in Cypress at Grant and Loutetta. It is now back to normal and hot.

My road runner quit 12 hours before the storm started. We lost power at 2am when the storm was coming in. I had to finish my poker game with my buddies by candle light (I won). It was windy and lightly raining but nothing too bad. We had some pine tree limbs down in the hood but nothing too bad. The power was back on 12 hours later only to go out again the next night at 3 am. Our cable TV went out sometime when we were with out power. Our power was back on yesterday at 8 pm and our cable came back this morning including my Roadrunner.

    All in all not bad.

(Was) in Beaumont and it's pretty bad. Trees and powerlines down everywhere. Almost every fence and sign is gone. Trees are either in the yard or on people's houses. Fortunately, my house doesn't have trees near it so it made out pretty well. (I evacuated to Corpus but went back for a couple hours yesterday to check). Every window made it and we didn't lose anything off the roof. The front doors (double doors) got blown in, though... and there's a hole in the wall where the doorknob made impact. There's also some damage to doors inside the house after the wind got inside.

The city doesn't want people back, but we went anyway, and I'm glad we did... if we hadn't gone and shut the front doors, who knows what animals might've made residence in there during the week or so it takes to get back.

For the most part, though, it's not too bad. The problem is getting through the city. We had to park half-a-block from my house and walk it because two huge trees were blocking the road. There are power poles and lines down everywhere. The water won't be safe to drink for at least a week. Most houses made it through without a lot of damage, which is great... but the city workers have a whole lot of work ahead of them. I'm guessing it'll at least be a week or so before they begin to want people back, so I'm at a hotel in Houston for the time being and waiting it out.

Good to here you didn't fair too badly Cat. we found out this morning that a tree did hit our house but that it just barely made contact with the very edge. It has possiby punctured the roof and it did rip our lectrical box right off the wall. i am going back tomorrow or Wednesday to assess the damage and get a few things. The water service in my neighborhood is running and reports I got were that the power in that area should be restored by either Friday or Sunday. I was also informed that my school district should expect to be out of school for at least 3 weeks. I'm not sure how long BISD will be out or Lamar for that matter.
