Like they would ever admit that they do not have it under control.

I just got this from my buddy Trent, who has decided not to return to his house to get his valuables:

"Mission to Uptown was aborted. The roads that were safe yesterday aren't today. There are reports of increased carjackings and shootings. The people that were rescued from East New Orleans and brought to the Causeway and I-10 staging area are rioting. The hospital is in total lockdown.

FEMA is pulling out of New Orleans because the rescuers are being shot at. The Army's coming.

If they want to fight and riot and shoot at rescue workers, then they deserve the army to come in there and take control.

This morning I saw several Jeeps and Humvees and huge Crane trucks coming East on the KATY freeway. I think they're going to pick stuff up and put it aside... or maybe help out with the mayhem? Anyone else see the trucks this morning? They were downtown at about 6:45 a.m.

Jesus. This storm was five days ago.

Even near the Superdome, there are thousands of people with no food or water, apparently, and no one there. No FEMA. No military. Just CNN. What in the world...

You know the one that I'm referring to... the graphics with the wrestler slamming Louisiana to the ground, or the satellite image of Katrina with the song 'Under the Sea' playing.

It is frightening to think that for whatever reason the Guard and the Army would let things get so out of control.

CNN and FOXNEWS are the only non-residents i've seen (other than helicopters that can't rescue anyone due to heavy gunfire.)
where's this "help" they keep referring to anyway???

Where TF is all the disaster relief and law enforcement??? They just showed video of hundreds or thousands of people sitting by the Convention Center. They were left there and told they would be safe and they have had -0- help. People are dying! They just rolled one elderly lady in a wheelchair up to the wall and covered her with a blanket.

This is just a major SNAFU by the local, State and Federal authorities. Disgusting, deplorable. What do we pay these idiots for.

    I feel ill...

Some guys at my job from FEMA had to go over to the astrodome just now because it was becoming out of control fast.

The people and gangs in new orleans are acting like wild animals, and sometimes, wild animals need to be shot.

I heard reports that people were urinating on the Astrodome floor...that was when there were only 3000 in the Dome. What happens when there's 25,000? They're starting fires in the Superdome, and shot a Guardsman there yesterday.

Now they're saying 50,000-60,000 are on their way to the Dome!

is it impossible for them not to f**k up everything? C.Rice was out at a broadway show last night! Bush was playing golf when the hurricane hit! he actually said on the TODAY show "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. " , The white house is claiming that Bush is being a good leader b/c he declared the area a disater area last week before the storm even hit, but they fail to point out that the Disaster designation was in regards to Tropical Storm Cindy that hit weeks ago!

we can drop aid to the goat farmers of Afghanistan but after 3 days we still can't get food or water to the people of a major US City??

WTF has the Homeland Security department been doing for the past 4 years??? isnt this their mission? to be able to respond quickly to a disaster on US soil?

I couldn't agree more - the Bush administration is clueless when it comes to Domestic issues - I don't think they've taken enough heat for the way they've handled the situation - largely in part because most Americans don't know how bad it is in New Orleans right now. New Orleans is a 3rd world country right now, and the state governments are realizing this and doing everything in their powers to remedy the situation while the people at the very top are more worried about what it will do to gas prices for the rich.
