I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how massive the damage is.. that video is heart wrenching, I can't imagine how horrifying that was.. especially for the kids.
what a tragic time for the city of NO and the states effected by Katrina. I've prayed more recently than I have in a long time... seems like a good time for another.
Wow! To be honest I hadn't been following the storm today as I thought they had made it through fairly well. Now I hear about the levee breaks and it sounds like things are really going dowhill fast.
just curious about what kind of coverage you guys are watching. i am watching CNN all day and going to nola.com... i saw that report hours earlier about the man who jumped to his death inside the Superdome, then i read it again hours later on cnn.com, but i cant find a report on it. there is gunfire on the streets of new orleans. people trying to protect themselves... martial law. crazy stuff..
I heard the prison story and the superdome jumper story today in class.. but I have yet to see reports of either on the news..
On the NOLA site they are saying the breached levee (the main breach is 500 ft.) cannot be closed and the water will rise 15 more feet.
Yeah, they mentioned it on CNN. Things are not good in New Orleans. My prayers are with the people there.
For a local flavor...Here is the live streaming link from MISS http://www.wjtv.com/ Louisiana News should be streaming on Wednesday.
Tuesday, 11:45 p.m.(12:45 Eastern) Late Tuesday, Gov. Blanco spokeswoman Denise Bottcher described a disturbing scene unfolding in uptown New Orleans, where looters were trying to break into Children's Hospital. Bottcher said the director of the hospital fears for the safety of the staff and the 100 kids inside the hospital. The director said the hospital is locked, but that the looters were trying to break in and had gathered outside the facility. The director has sought help from the police, but, due to rising flood waters, police have not been able to respond. Bottcher said Blanco has been told of the situation and has informed the National Guard. However, Bottcher said, the National Guard has also been unable to respond.
