Yeah, that's the same thing. Did I hurt your feelings by calling you a vag for not actually hunting? A 90 year old woman can sit around a feeder and shoot at deer when they come to eat... just saying.

I agree. The only way I'll ever give someone props for hunting is when they go bow hunting without sitting around a feeder. Now that's how real men hunt.

If you belong to a tribe and need to hunt for survival, then I'm down.

My initial post states that I am talking about those that do it for sport/fun.

So Vick got his jollies from watching some animals fight to the death, whereas these "hunters" lodge a bullet to get off as well. Same *****, in both cases the animals are experiencing unnecessary pain. Hell we give murders on death row more respect by giving them a nice sleeping injection.

It's not like people are sitting there waiting for something to move and then blast it with a high powered rifle with a 50x zoom scope.

For every deer a hunter shoots, he probably sees about 30 other deer and various other wildlife.

Picture it as animal watching in nature, but every once in awhile you get to take something home with you.

I don't remember you calling me a vag?

Anyways, there is so much more to it than just killing things with deer hunting. I haven't shot my gun in two seasons, even though I've logged about 40 hours in the stand over that time. It is relaxing.

How can either of you, who have "never hunted," have any concept of hunting or what it takes to be a "real man" with re: to hunting or being a "real hunter?"

We're at the top of the food chain not because we're bigger, stronger, or faster, but because we're smarter. We've set traps for animals for as long as we've been around. Setting traps requires baiting and waiting whether the trap is a snare or a deer blind. We've improved our technology again and again so that we can bring down larger game. All because we're smarter.

A deer blind is simply the current method of setting a trap. Using a spear or a bow or a gun is just evolution in technology.

Hunting endangered species is one thing. Hunting for no purpose other than sport is one thing. But most trophy hunters use the meat, and keep the head or the pelt as that trophy. They used pelts and antlers for clothing and tools in the past, but they used skulls and bones as trophies in the past as well, you know.

I went deep sea fishing this summer. Does anyone think this is the same? We killed animals, after all.

Been deer hunting tons of times boring as hell. Love venison though especially venison sausage. Hunting for food great for sport meh whatever floats your boat.

I prefer fishing which is much more relaxing and there is a lot more action. I've sat in too many blinds for hours on end not seeing a thing. Plus maybe this sounds stupid but it's just cool having no idea what you've caught until you reel it in.

Evolution called- they would like to request that you bury the "if you don't hunt, you're a p***y" concept permanently.

The only hunting I do is for beaver- and BUSINESS IS BOOMING!!!!!

If you're doing it to eat I'm cool with it. But if you're doing it for a thrill I don't like it. I also don't like when people put a deer head on their wall.

    I don't feel compelled to hunt - I don't think I'd enjoy it.

But I'm not against it, either (unless it's endangered species).

    I friggin' LOVE venison sausage.

People who say it's cowardly to shoot a deer from a stand....eh... it's not any more or less cowardly than cows in a slaughter house. If there's tons of deer, I have no problem with people hunting them that way, as long as they're not endangering others.

I don't hunt, but I have no problem with those who do, as long as they do so lawfully and responsibly.
