I just disagree. Even if she's shooting wolves from a helicopter, every hunter gives her prey more of a chance than the cow at a slaughterhouse, or even a chicken in a rural backyard with its head on a chopping block. (Not that I have that much problem with that.) My rules for killing animals is that you should try to make it quick and as painless as possible, and don't kill animals that won't be eaten. The first rule runs somewhat contrary to the "giving the animal a fair chance" idea. (Not completely. I'm sure there are people who hunt with spears that are good enough to kill efficiently.)
In the same vein as catch-and-release fishing, are there nonlethal ways to enjoy hunting? Maybe you could shoot the animals with a paintball gun.
i think the whole, "give the animal a fair chance" is hilarious. what does that even mean exactly? As touched on earlier, humans use what they have to hunt and technology/intelligence is their best asset. All animals use what they can to kill prey, "fair" or not. I'm not a huge fan of sport hunting animals such as lions and all of that, but i have no problem with someone going out each fall, tagging a few deer and having them processed for food.
never understood it and don't know if i could ever respect someone who hunts for sport. i would like to shoot a gun...but not at anyone or anything alive.

If rednecks like the taste of deer, dove, duck, quail, and geese so much, then wouldn't the demand be high enough for all grocery stores/butchers to sell the meat?
I just don't think it is very fun. Animals don't care if they get killed. Now hunting man. Thats a real sport.
I have no problem with hunting and eating, though it is not for me. I don't like that people do it for the pure enjoyment of killing an animal. <div style="background-color:#000000;width:368px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:cms:item:southparkstudios.com:149670" width="360" height="293" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed><p style="background-color:#FFFFFF;padding:4px;margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:0px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><b><a href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s01e03-volcano">Volcano</a></b><br/>Tags: <a style="display: block; position: relative; top: -1.33em; float: right; font-weight: bold; color: #ffcc00; text-decoration: none" href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/">SOUTH<br/>PARK</a><a href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/episodes/s01e03-volcano">more...</a></p></div></div>
I don't have a problem with it, but the mere fact that Sarah Palin is such a staunch advocate for it is actually making me reconsider...
Just like golf, it's an excuse to get outside, get away from whatever (work, wife, etc.), drink, feel a sense of comraderie with your peers and offspring and have an interest in ...something. It is cruel, but all animal life on this planet exists in the kill and be killed mode.
Stores cannot butcher wild game in the same facilities they butcher USDA inspected meats, at least in Arkansas anyway and I am assuming that is the code for the rest of the country as well seeing as how the USDA is a federal organization. That's why you have specialty processors that will dress the game into what you like such as steaks, burger meat, sausage, jerky, etc. Duck quail and geese are sold at a lot of grocery stores already but the demand for those isn't very high and they are more expensive than chicken and turkey. Deer isn't domesticated and those that raise it for meat are few and far between not to mention that many states have laws against importation of deer other cervids or their meats due to CWD which causes the price of venison to be pretty high.
To survive: YES To brag about what a good shot I am with a rifle: NO Have I done it? No Do I think it would be fun? YES Would I ever do it? Chances are slim to NONE. "HUNTING" a D&D topic? YES Dating a boar or a buffalo Sunday night? I'm brownneck. I believe SeƱor Pun is blackneck.
