    Les Alexander remains the owner, insists on resigning TMac and Yao for max contracts, predictably both go down with injuries, the team has no finances to improve, and spirals into years of mediocrity.

    Daryl Morey quits to go help his FBI Agent brother solve crimes using Numbers.

    New GM: Isiah Thomas!

    Isiah trades Scola, Brooks, Battier, Landry, Ariza, Budinger, Hayes, Lowry, Taylor, Anderson, and Dorsey for Shaq.

    He then trades Yao and an unprotected 1st to the Lakers for Fisher, Farmar, Sasha, Walton and Morrison.

    McGrady demands a trade and is waived.

    Adelman retires.

    New coach: Isiah Thomas!

    Something happens to Danny Ainge (he has already had a heart attack once, and general managing ain't the most stress-free job in the world), and the Boston GM position becomes vacated. Their first target is Morey naturally. Morey cannot turn down a raise and return to his hometown to man his childhood favorite team. He leaves his stats hoard in Houston via contractual obligations but convinces half of his statgeek staff to follow him to Boston. Les tries to replace him with the top assistant on Morey's team, but alas, that guy turns out to be another Purpura (read: snivelling obsequious petty little fraud of a man), and the Era of Good Decision Making ends prematurely for the Rockets.


    I'm sorry. I wanted to write something funny, but the more real it got the sadder I became. Invariably any serious consideration of Rockets tragedies must begin and end with Morey leaving us.

    Ochotexto is that you? How about Rockets loose in the finals and give high long tern contracts to a bunch of one year wonders and handicaps the franchise for years to come.
