People are frustrated by the inconsistency. I like Jordan and i am willing to be patient with him - such patience isn't afforeded to him by all and that's understandable since our rookie PF plays like a 5 year player. He is raw and i am willing to give him time, if he showed up every night it wouldn't be an issue but he plays 2 good games then 4 bad.
he was active tonight, he still is clueless on both ends of the court, but his hustle got him some nice tip ins. he did make a few nice post up plays, backing his opponent down and pinning him under the basket. kudos, who knows what hell do next game
Last 2 games really have impressed me, he's working hard for rebounds and him and Pat are really going after blocks which I like alot. He was doing a good little jumper too when I was at the Phx game.. I don't think Miller should be getting more then like 5 minutes at this point of the season just let Hill and Pat play his time.
I'd be happy watching them rotate the 4 spot for the next couple of years, but I would still rather get a real center.
Need more DeMarre Carroll and Hill together in at the same time, just for more amusement of two thin dreaded big men on the court who look alike both in appearance, and in looking like they're don't know what the hell they're doing. Jordan Hill is a better rebounder than Patterson and the same in blocked shots. Patterson is more heady and mistake free in everything else, and just straight hits a high percentage of shots. Not sure Hill's brains will ever come around. So Hill needs to hit the weight room hard and develop a consistent effort.
I think people need to be patient with Jordan Hill. Let's not be delusional - he was a project from the onset. We got him because the Knicks didn't have patience for him to develop... and he's not going to be an all-star anytime soon. Though he does have All-star level potential. And since he was a question mark, plus there was a possibility of cap space to bring in a current all-star, then Morey was able to get the #8 pick from the Knicks. To sit here and throw Jordan Hill under the Bus is being delusional. Honestly he does bring athleticism, size, and a raw offensive game (with potential).
Wouldnt even have this thread if Scola wasnt injured. Our PF poistion is set Scola, Patterson and Hayes. Absolutely no need for Hill to come in and wreck something so good. For all those fans saying he just needs more time. Well we dont have that tme to give him. Its clear front office, coaches and Les wanted and wants this team to fight for playoff seeding. So its clear this team has no intention to tank. On a 10 man rotation that is competing for the playoffs - there is just no room for someone who still hasnt figured out how to play, someone who cant bring it every night. He hasnt earned a spot, he just plays because we have no other choice due to injuries and lack of a genuine/legit Center. If we were set at the 5 like we are with the 4, then Hill is to the bench what shoes are to the feet - just made for each other.
All star potential? So you are saying all though he had/has "all star" potetntial the Knicks still didnt want to develop him? Not only that, he had "all star" potential and the Knicks still traded him? Who in their right mind gives up on all star potetnial? D'Antoni isnt that stupid and certainly not Walsh. "athleticism, size, and a raw offensive game with potential" does not equal to 'all star" potential? Half the players (out of 60) ) that come through the draft evrey year have "athleticism, size, and a raw offensive game with potential" So just because of that does that mean they have "all star" potential? Morey has been literally dying in trying to get a player who has "all star" capabilities. Morey would have traded him in a flash during trade talks if anyone else was interested. So you are saying even Morey wants to give away a player with "all star" potential? And that no one else int the league wanted someone with "all star" potential?
I'm in NC and caught the Bobcat broadcast. Jordan Hill is from NC. The Bobcat announcer was telling the story of asking Coach Adelman before the game about "whether or not we would see Jordan Hill..." Adelman's response was ~"... no, we've seen and know what he can do; now we want to see what Patterson can do..."
Jeez, that seems harsh if true. Anyway, he reminds me a little of JaVale McGee in that they're both still developing and that coaches seem to have to beg them to give effort. I found it encouraging how Worrel said Sikma is constantly yelling at Hill "BE ACTIVE" from the sidelines. The staff is definitely trying hard to get a consistent effort out of him. Hopefully it will eventually become second nature. I've also seen a few good defensive plays in the post by Hill the past two games. He played Gortat straight up a couple times. Hill doesn't have the length of McGee but unlike JaVale he has shown he actually has some basketball skills he can build on. He makes some good post moves and appears to have a fairly decent jump shot that he should be able to improve. But yeah, until he shows more consistency I still think of him as what Bill called him last night, "a tease."
But we did see Jordan Hill. I think Adelman probably meant we wouldn't see him as the starter last night.
To me Jordan is going to be a career backup. His best asset is rebounding and playing with energy. Unfortunately playing with energy doesn't happen on a night to night basis, hence why he struggles some nights.
Only thing he has proven is his inconsistency. So, he had 2 good games now, will he show up against Boston? Nobody knows.
