    cool

Change of bet punishment. We will pair up on both sides of the bet. Every winner gets to change someone else.

To make sure everyone gets a little piece of me should I lose, no one pairs up with me, but everyone gets to contribute to renaming me each month. You will submit name changes and vote each month. That should keep my post count down...lol! Crisco gets the first month by himself and any voting ties, since he was the first to bet.

If any Admin is gutsy enough to throw their name into the bet, you must be willing to accept equal punishment to me, ie a name change every month.

yoo hoo, Jeff aka SaveOurPartner, Will aka Won't, BrianKagy aka BrainKagy, keeley aka GerryFaustFanClub, and of course Clutch aka Clutch.com. Your precious moniker history defines you. You are nothing without them [IMG] We wouldn't want you to lose your monikers. And SaveOurPartner, your draft notes are getting everyone excited about that athletic SF we always want, but never draft, so you owe it to everyone as cc.net draft reporter if we pass on the athletes to wide-spread disappointment that you are fostering. Lets play!

heyaway has a nice ring to it, or maybe fadepartner..

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but if the Rockets draft a PG and anything other than a SF with their 3 picks, the HP side wins.

If the Rockets do not draft a PG, the HP side automatically loses. Also, if the Rockets draft a SF, the HP side automatically loses.

    Is that right?

    fadeaway,

The bet is for the whole season of transactions. The bet is about who makes the team roster.

Let me try to simplify again.
<font size="1">Do you guys not read the posts? No wonder you blindly think we want to upgrade the SF spot. [IMG]</font>

    Come Nov 1st:
    1. If there is not a 3rd PG, I lose.
    2. If we acquire a SF projected ahead of Langhi* for next year, I lose.
    3. If there is a third PG and there is no new SF better than Langhi, you lose. That is the ONLY way you lose.

<font size="1">* see the whole post for how we will measure this. The point is you guys think SF is top priority. That should mean Langhi gets beat out by that new player.</font>

Mango, you mind stepping in and arbitrating the rules.

Mango, we need a list of names for each side.

Come on people, line up and square off. My vote is for HP's version.

one more rule about eligibility...no BI-UIDs or newbies allowed. You must put your history on the line ... and feel pain in losing your moniker.

One side can vote off a member on the other side for not meeting the eligibility rule.

where is rimbutt anyhow? And why is oohahhchebe so quiet.

I don't think Langhi will start next year, so I'm in.

SaucePartner, I think I'm going to get in on this. I think we get a prototype SF. Our 3rd string PG will be more of a SG, so I guess he won't count.

    heysauce,

if a SF makes our roster as projected ahead of Langhi (according to Rudy), I lose. PG or not wouldn't matter. See number 3 rule above. That is the ONLY way my side wins.

I'm considering it, but I wouldn't want to chance (albeit a very small chance) losing my moniker forever. Maybe for a month or 2. The main reason for betting would be to see "hey hate me" get what he has coming. [IMG]

    heyImhorny,

There's a 99% chance I'll take this bet. I'll take my official stance this Sunday after the draft lottery. I'd bet now, but I don't want to bet against the Rockets getting a wonderful pick.

    layebe,

isn't it 99.5% chance you pissant

Why does a top 3 pick hurt your side. Is it because basketball's bounce that you can't follow the game?

If we land a stud center or that Kevin Garnett guy out of pure luck, then all my reasons for using the rest of the picks and summer on big men is dissolved, and Rudy likely looks for shooters only.

If the Rockets land a top 3 pick, I think there will be a better incentive to bring Shandon back and focus the capspace on FAs such as Antonio Davis, Webber perhaps and solidfying the depth w/ Moochie, Dream, etc. Undoubtedly the Rockets need a Center or a Power Forward more than a SF. Everyone thinks that the team needs a PF or a Center more than it needs a SF. You merely have some issue w/ the position, so you misunderstand every poster's assertion that at the #13 pick that the Rockets are alot more apt to pick in the 'still strong' SF arena than the 'bogus bs' Center arena. Noone thinks that the summer should be spent overpaying someone for the SF spot... that's what the draft is for. FA money is for big bodies.

There are numerous directions that the team could take. There are Webber paths, there are reluctant Taylor paths, etc (The rebounds have to come from somewhere). There are other questions, if Webber goes to Houston, does Shandon opt out? Does he stay on as a good soldier? The team would be crazy to not appreciate Eddie Robinson's athleticism. Would he be too much of a spaz though to pair w/ Mobley?

Neither you nor I know all of the tangential trades and the visionary approach that CD and Rudy play with. I wouldn't doubt that the club is debating about SAR again. I wouldn't doubt that the team resents Cato and yet that there is a plan that purposefully includes his retention. How many FAs are there this year? I think that I read there are 7??? Mo, Moochie, Bull, Los, Dream, Shandon, ?.

Do I know what's going to happen w/ Shandon? Of course not. Do I think Webber will end up in Houston? Sometimes. Did Clutch post that Doc Rocket said the team's priorities include either Battier or Jefferson? Yes.

I'm merely watching the days click by and studying whether or not Rudy and CD are worth their weight, or if they're merely dorks. The same team that drafted Kenny Thomas drafted Bryce Drew. The same team that found Cuttino Mobley made a million other draft mistakes.

What do you see happening on draft day heyp? If you could unload Cato and yet retained the 13th pick would you take on a cheaper Cato in Woods or Haywood? What's the point? Just to save money? Would you draft Bradley? Golly geez the team does like the white guys and this one shoots nearly 70% from the field. He'd definitely be a solid pickup. Unfortunately he merely puts you in a position to have to overpay Shandon.

With the #13 would you try to get closer for a Battier? What would a move like that symbolize? Probably that you're at least comfortable w/ Taylor (though Webber would be more solvent).

What would you do? Better yet, WWRD?

Sounds like you want to bet!

You have way too many ifs in that post. Quit watching the ball bounce; it will make you dizzy. Don't stare at the starting 5. Watch the whole court, the whole bench, the whole season.

My point is simple: frontline depth is sorely missing. Adding Webber at the expense of Mo' does not address that problem.

WWRD?? Hedge all his bets. One of which is to lie to the media and say he wants an athletic SF again, in hopes to rise their stock and coax another team into bypassing a PF.

Does this sound familiar: goddam Rudy sucks; Jefferson was still on the board. Why did he take Bradley?!

    you poor souls!

    Heyoutalktoomuchmess,

I respect a man who backs up his words with his actions, but gee heypee, I just don't trust you. If this is really going down, like half the people on this board will lose their names and a new breed of posters will arise.

Ah, what the hell, it's not like I had some ingenious moniker in the first place. Put me down for a new SF heyousuck. Steve and Cat and Mooch take up way too much playing time for a 3rd string point guard. Rudy is not that crazy to go small ball when you have studs in Jefferson, White, Johnson, and Battier. Besides, heyIgotnoskillz, the rocks really need someone to contend with the TMacs, Carters, Bryants of this league. I'm also looking forward to kicking Bemad out of his Sgt at Arms seat.
