#16 seed Jim Petersen is beating #1 seed Moses Malone! Right now, it's 58% to 42%

Maybe everying is confusing Jim Petersen with the Rockets radio play by play man, Gene Peterson?

This could shake things up a bit...

p.s. jim petersen is the bomb, and I hope he smokes mo mo mo.

I went to petersen's basketball camp 2 summers in a row when I was in middle school. they actually announced my name as the camp's winner of the Hustle award only to say they'd screwed up after they'd already given it to me in front of everyone and then gave it to some other kid.

but that's not the point of the story. . .

the point of the story is that I ran into Jim 2 years later at the NBA all-star game in the astrodome. and he remembered me by my first name! I went up to him while he was sitting with some friends, and I was all, "hey, Jim. what's up?"

and he was all, "David, man, how're you doing?".

and now, all the kids think he's a righteous dude.

Didn't Jim wear some oversized knee pads? Guys that do that deserve to win.

The funny thing about this potential upset is the description of the 'battle' to the right of Mo's and JP's pics...

These two centers no doubt went head-to-head on many occasions throughout their playing days and the result was likely the same as the expected outcome in this one-on-one matchup. Moses Malone, considered one of the most dominant inside forces in league history, should have no trouble getting any shot he desires against Jim Petersen, who was a decent role player during his career. There is, however, little room for role playing on The Road To Rocketsville.

However, as everyone knows, Petersen the broadcaster is a little weasel, and loves to take shots at the Rox...

What is the point of this thing?

Is it for a player's entire career, or just as a Rocket?

How the hell is Eddie Johnson (who I love) beating Lew Lloyd: 76% to 24%?????? Now, that's a travesty.

Robert Reid with a 12% lead on Walt Willaims? Man, name recognition and current-ness have more to do with voting than I first realized....

Ostensibly its "who would win in a one-on-one contest if both players were at the peak of their skills. (ie: career, not just as a Rocket)"

Realistically, its all about name recognition and popularity (hence, Quitten's big flop). No idea what might have caused Petersen's surge. Perhaps he lobbied on his broadcasts?

Anyone who trashes on Pete has to go through me, the man simply cannot be stopped.

    Also, he knows his scotch...

If anyone else has anything to say regarding Pete, step up. I'm ready to cut someone up.
