I initially heard the 634 million number last week on CNN. This article backs up that number although apparently the GAO states above that 394 million was spent from from fiscal year 2010 through 3/31/2013.

So I guess if that makes you feel better...

What makes me feel better is the chuckle train i ride when I see winger idiots acting like Dr. Evil - "300 MEEEEELION dollars!!!!!"

In a project of this scale over these time frames - it's really not that much. Especially compared to the gains.

It says a lot more about the critics and their level of experience with large projects.

To the contrary it sounds like a mess all the way around.

I am skeptical of these numbers. Maybe that's the total to implement Obamacare as a service, but the website is going to be a portion of the cost.

I'd like to see a breakdown of these numbers. It's easy to throw out huge ridiculous numbers without knowing the underlying facts.

I only glanced at the number a few days ago. I think the website is in the order of $100M (3 yr project). The ~$400M is the total costs to date (or to May 2013 timeframe) for not just the website, but call center, data center, blah blah blah.. lots of things. Do a search on gao aca costs to see the breakdown.

But the point is fair, this is a big and complicated system with lots of parts and multiple contractors involved in these different parts. NO one really know what the problem is other than the developers and folks involved.

I do believe they will get through this mess and we can move on to better things with obamacare.

    Wow.

The same tech firm that the Obama administration selected to design their signature health care rollout had quite the resume. They were responsible for bungling Canada's failed gun registry. The incompetence is unbelievable.

CGI, the Canadian company whose U.S. subsidiary built the failed Obamacare website, was once contracted to build a federal gun registry for the Canadian government, Breitbart News has learned.
CGI's contract was canceled in 2007 after a report by the Auditor General found that the Canadian Firearms Information System (CFIS) being built by CGI was "significantly over budget" and that it had been plagued by delays.

$100MM is still a lot to build a website. I doubt Amazon.com cost that much to build.

It is very questionable how such an inferior product could have hit the market. I think the choice of contractor and the way this was set-up demonstrated some very poor choices along the way by Kathleen Silebus. She should have made sure that competent IT people where on the inside of the department to help make the decisions around contractors.

now you mentioned that, i recall thinking about that. There was no cost breakdown for the website, but the contractor that did IT. So yea it could cost less.

Son? LOL...Thank Lord I am not related to you.

Texxx, the article is flawed in so many ways and the so-called "facts" are only commentary. The whole thing could be refuted, starting with the source.

It's completely obnoxious how you continue to post articles, bold YOUR sentiments and pretend that it's fact. Why do you post in a forum where so many people disagree with you and despise your posts because of your trolling? I don't get it. There are plenty of message boards where people share your views and communicate with the same attitude. It doesn't make sense for you to continue littering the board when you will NEVER reach common ground. Discussing anything with you leads to a dead end.

Try FoxNews or your beloved Breitbart. It will do you and everyone wonders.

Who the hell are you to tell me not to post my opinions here?

I must have hit a nerve. Look how angry and bitter you are. I feel sorry for you.

I didn't tell you what and what not to post, but I made a suggestion and offered an opinion. Don't be a hypocrite. That's primarily what you do here anyway.
