Interesting list. I didn't like the part where he said "Sure, this is a city so ugly that sometimes you may be tempted to put a bag over its head" about Houston.

The Caribbean Islands aren't safe?

Dead bodies turned up in Cancun the other day. There was the raping of 6 women in Acopulco and I believe a couple was also murdered in Cancun not too long ago.

Thanks that is a very interesting read. We chose Hawaii over San Fran this year. My buddy who works downtown keeps telling me to go underground.

I've always wanted to go to Asheville but people look at me weird when I say that. North Carolina in general seems like a decent place, but I'll probably never go.

LOL, I initially stopped reading there. He should have at least said spend time in the suburbs of Detroit and venture in to the heart with an experienced local.

I went to Asheville last summer, and it actually felt a lot like Austin to me. East of 35.

That is a terrible, terrible list. I disagree with almost all of it.

I'm from Houston. I lived the first 18 years of my life in Houston. It is my hometown, and I cheer for its success, both athletically and financially, every chance I get.

    But Austin is better.

This list is almost total garbage, though I agree Vienna and Budapest were more fun than Berlin.

Ehh, Austin is a better place to visit maybe. Cities always vary in how they are to live in as opposed to visit and the chief cases are Las Vegas and New Orleans.

I spent a night in Asheville last month during a road trip to North Carolina. Wish I had spent more time there so I could get annoyed with it. We both loved it and I want to go back asap. We really enjoyed Raleigh as well.

Agreed, it felt like a mix of Austin and Santa Cruz to me.

Mostly the same for me. I grew up in Houston from 5 to 24. I've been in Austin for the last 14 years. There are elements of Houston I wish I still had (go to games when ever I felt like it, family and friends, etc) but I love Austin, too.

It's an incredibly poorly written piece. Austin is the most overrated city in the entire world? Seriously?

I'm not setting foot anywhere in Mexico. I went to the Dominican Rep last summer and had the time of my life.
