'Doesn't like the crowd' doesn't mean race. Switching from techno to groove/lounge isn't Hudson's music. I've been there numerous times and
its not a groove music place and most the people there don't like that music.
That place is a mix of every race, but most dress pretty preppy and like techno music. That obviously wasn't the crowd.

The owner comes in and hears the groove lounge music and sees the crowd (regardless of race) and determines its not what he wants to portray his business.

He probably wants to own his business for a while so is looking to the long-term sustainability of his bar and that perception is created by the people/music there.

The owner needs to have a better policy with his promotors to not allow for changes in music. Now he has negative press and has lost many potential customers.

One night with groove music for a large party on a normally dead Tuesday night isn't going to kill his business.

Maybe "doesn't like the crowd" means... i'd rather have an empty bar on a Tuesday night playing techno... are you kidding man? This is absolutely racist.

    I agree.

BTW this sh-t is child's play compared to NYC, LA, or Europe. Good luck getting into Provocateur or Boom Boom Room rolling 10+ deep of any race.

What's wrong with that? A business has the right to refuse service to anyone.

For example, Would you want to own a bar or restaurant that had homeless people coming in and hanging out?

    Of course not. Case closed.

Just because Morton's doesn't serve hamburgers on Tuesday night in order to get a bigger crowd doesn't mean they're creating class warfare. Your logic is flawed.

I would say that place is more 'colored' people than white people. And i'm far from white myself.

Add in the fact that according to the party goers they were told they could bring their own music and sent a list of songs to be approved and that argument carries even less weight.

I've been to events that ended up having a lot more people than expected and the owners didn't shut the place down and turn away money, they let people know service could be slow and called in more workers.

Isn't it a promotor's job to get people in the club? If your club is dead on certain nights, it is not out of the ordinary to throw a party that isn't typical of your establishment.

The promotor did his job. Cause and effect on the negative press Hudson is getting.

I used to promote in downtown Houston about 8 years ago. D-bag owners are d-bags.

I've seen 'Red Door' back in the day and other allegedly racist bars like Hudson back in the day refuse groups of preppy looking white boys all the time.

They want a diverse mix of stylish guys and girls. That means don't roll 20+ deep unless you're hot girls.

No 10+ deep guy groups of white suits, indians, asians, arabs, latins, african americans, white country boys whatever!

Try that any place else in the world and see if they put you on tv.

you really think this is negative press?

A friend of mine checked out Hudson lounge a couple weeks back and the waitress told her that they only want a certain cliental base. She obviously didn't say what type of clients they want but pretty big coincidence that this story came out a week after.

I just don't understand why clubs in Houston are trying to emulate clubs in NYC, LA, Miami. Those clubs have a hard enough time staying open in those cities were the nightlife is conducive to such stringent door policies.

Eventually those clubs can't stay afloat and they realize they have to let whoever in. That sh-t don't work in Houston. At least not long term.

On a side note: Why do Asians and Indians always roll 20+ deep?

Sounds like a business I don't ever want to patronize. They may be profiling customers on criteria more sophisticated than simple race categorization, but I'm not sure that makes it any better in my eyes. I know it's a common industry thing, but I suppose that's part of why I never go to clubs.

    Glad I could help out...

Here is the link to his page:

    http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/profile.php?id=1074376258

Out of sheer curiosity, I looked at his list of 738 friends... 5 or less black folk. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I can not stand Quannell X. I don't see how he can rush to defend so many people that commit crimes, just because they are of color.

What irked me was him going to speak with the woman who burned the 12 year old.
