Nahhhh...I think we can pass up Sura because he is not that great of a 3pt shooter and he isn't quite the player that Hudson. Judging from his stats from last year and previous years I think the only reason why he played so well was because there was no other talent there. There was only Stephen Jackson and Jason Terry. But I guess if we could get him for a decent price and Troy Hudson re-upped with TW then I think he would probably be a better choice than starting Lue.

To emphasize even more, the Wolves have a complete log jam at the guard position with 5 players who will play at a guard slot: Cassell, Hassell, Sprewell, Hoiberg and Hudson. After Hudson has shown what he can do with big time minutes and then to be disrespected by the team by having them bring in guys that completely took over his position after he played his butt off, not to mention the fact that if he continues to barely play his player value will go down...it only makes sense to ask for a trade...and he makes $ 2,475,000 per year...how much is our TE again, isn't it around $5.5 million or so? We can always give him what we have and then let him know that things are looking up for him(*wink* *wink* ).

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that Portland and Minnesota are in talks about a trade that involves Shareef. If this were to go through it would mean that Sprewell would primarily play shooting guard rather than swinging between the 2 & 3 as he normally does...meaning even less playing time...

I don't even get what you're saying, man. How did Minnesota "disrespect" him? By bringing in other players? None of those players play PG ... Troy was injured all last year (that's why he didn't play, not because he was disrespected), what does Sprewell playing the 2 have to do with anyting (Hudson plays the 1), and if Cassell is supposed to be "disrespecting" I don't get it ... Hudson is best as a back up ... and how are we supposed to trade for him (he's a free agent).
None of what you're saying makes any sense.

I think Minnesota disrespected him because they want out and got a bunch of players to take over his spot even though he had a great year. He usually slides between the 1 & 2. Cassell plays the 1, Sprewell plays the 2, Hoiberg plays the 2, and Hassel plays the 2. Think about it, you have a really awesome year and play your butt off and during the offseason your team goes out and gets a bunch of players that end up taking over your position. True, he was injured last year but it had nothing to do with his minutes because he started the year off playing about what his average number of minutes ended up. So right now I kinda think he is kind of the oddman out after having an awesome season.

And as far as getting him I'm pretty sure that they can sign and trade Hudson for our trade exemption which is right around $5.5 million or so. And this gives them immediate cap space. We can probably sign him for either one or two years and then when his contract is up give him market value.

I don't really understand your argument that he is better as a backup considering his stats from his 02-03 season with Minnesota...

    14.2 PPG, .428% FG, .365% 3pt, .900 FT%, 5.7 APG, 2.3 tpg

While our current starting point guard (Tyronn Lue) averaged...

    10.5 PPG, .433 FG%, .383 3P%, .771 FT%, 4.2 APG, 1.63 TO

I think Hudson is a much better starting point guard than Lue is. And with a line-up of...

    PG- Hudson/Lue/Gaines
    SG- McGrady/Piakowski
    SF- Jackson/Nachbar
    PF- Howard/Taylor
    C- Yao/(anybody but DeClerq)

Our bench is starting to look a little bit better

    Does that make more sense?

Don't like him. He needs to have the ball to score. He's not a good fit. The person who plays PG for this team needs to know that he is almost insignificant to this team, and all he has to do is give the ball to Yao or T-Mac, and once he's done that, he needs to hit wide open shots and put in the effort.

Who are these "bunch of players?" Hassell was an existing player, that another team made a run at, and Minnesota matched the offer, so they don't lose talent, especially since they are rumored to be pursuing a trade with Portland of Wally for SAR, and would need his depth.

I see no disrespect by Minnesota. I doubt they'll be happy to trade him, since the only other player they have behind Cassell is Derrick Martin.

Now, Hudson may want to get starter minutes somewhere else, and decide that he wants to take a MLE from someone like Houston, and then Minnesota might prefer to do a S&T to get some value in return, but I doubt it. They need him. They'll just match whatever is offerred.

The only reason that he's not already locked in, is because his contract has been delayed by the NBA office, due to incentive clauses that apply to his injury. He has had a chronic ankle sprain they are worried about, and addressed that in his contract. If things don't get straightened out quickly, he might try his hand in the FA market again, to drive his contract up with Minnesota.

funny how you left out mpg in the Hudson-Lue comparsion.

Lue is a better fit for this team than Hudson ever will be. Hudson is not a good defender, not a terribly good 3 pt shooter, does not have good court vision, can't play very well off the ball, and needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He makes his living off of penetration and mid-range circus shots, exactly what we don't need.

And a career year of 14 ppg and 5 assists is hardly "awesome".

I think Hudson would be smart enough to know that Sam is on his last contract and Troy will take over more and more minutes, with a very good team. He'd do well to do a 3-year deal; then come back for big money later.

The ROX passed on him because of the $5.5 mil price tag.

I still think he will play in Minnesota. HoopsHype's rumor page had a exerpt from the Minneapolis Star Tribune stating that a new contract has been OK'd by the Player's Association and is waiting for league approval. I wish I could post a link or copy and paste but it just won't work on this stupid Mac at work.

I also agreee he does not fit in well in our system. Both sides have agreed in the last couple of days to a new agreement. It's comparative to the first agreement, but the contract language is different. Check out **************. Sorry to bust your bubble, but Hudson will be with the Wolves.

Hudson could end up in Atlanta

    CHARLEY WALTERS

    Pioneer Press Columnist

Timberwolves free-agent point guard Troy Hudson could end up with the Atlanta Hawks this week if a contract with the Wolves can't be concluded.

Three weeks ago, Hudson and the Wolves said they thought they had a six-year contract agreement for $37 million, with $21 million guaranteed. Since then, there have been disagreements on both sides about language involving the amount of guarantees and injury protection, and the NBA wouldn't approve the deal unless some salary cap issues were clarified.

The Pioneer Press reported last week that Hudson is getting frustrated over the lack of progress. Atlanta is expected to offer Hudson a contract, and Seattle is interested, too. If a deal with the Wolves can't be reached within the next few days, look for Hudson to take his services elsewhere.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No mention of Houston but Seattle is still looking to sign a point when they already have Ridnour, Daniels, and Murray.

Once again Crisco hits the nail on the head.

People underestimate Lue and over estimate Hudson. Lue can be an effective PG. He's not going to put up the glamourous stats of a Kidd or Marbury, but he has good fundamentals and can get the job done moreso than any other PG we've had in recent years outside of Francis.

Hudson is not what this team needs. Anyone that couldn't stand Mobley and was frustrated with Francis, will hate Hudson.

Seattle needs to sign Hudson to clear the way for Daniels to come to Houston.

Sigh. This is sadder than sad. Every PG thread has now degenerated even further to...
"I hope Seattle signs that guy so Antonio Daniels gets shaken loose from the tree."

its true - mostly b/c I think that there is a deal on the table from the Rockets.

Funny thing, the Sonics have Luke Ridnour, Ray Allen, and Flip Murray (Flip and Ray can play some point - and Luke is the PG "of the future") - so honestly, how much are they going to give AD or any other backup they sign. Remember there are only about 96 mins per game to give to the SG and PG. Allen, Flip and Luke will take up about 30 each - leaving 6-12 mins a night for this guard they want to sign (unless they are going to bench Flip again like they did last season when Allen came back)
