The major manufacturing is completed in the Independent Nation of Taiwan -- so you are correct -- never mind the obvious omission (likely due to a quick post no doubt) of Taiwan.
Regarding LG: Does anyone here even know what 'LG' stands for? They seemed to have rather mysteriously just sprung up out of thin air 8 or 9 years ago, then suddenly, they were everywhere. TV's, phones, major appliances.. but who the heck were they, where did they come from? Well.. I was one of those unfortunate souls who worked for Circuit City (and later Best Buy) in the early 90's (from '90 until about '98 between the two of them). One of the product brands we sold back then was called 'Broksonic'. Some of you may remember them.. utter cheap VCR crap. I only mention that brand name as a reference point to an even lower-quality, lesser-known brand which we ALSO sold back then, selling their VCR's, little black&white TVs, little window-unit air conditioners, fans, cheap crap: Lucky Goldstar Yep. That's LG. They like to try to throw around the phrase 'Life's Good' these days, as though they think people will think LG stands for 'Life is Good'. Well no. Now, am I trying to say that LG sucks? No, I am not. LG has successfully transformed itself, its brand image, done so well at it, so totally separated itself from its past history as a bottom-feeder, that it would be tempting to think that it may be all image, but that the products might still suck. LG tv's, their video products, are just fine. As far as I know, their major appliances are pretty good, but the true test of one of those is how it performs 15 years down the road, not 6 years, so the jury is still out on that one. But the phones.. well, I only tried one of them, and it was such a dismal failure that we had to take it back. It was just awful. Now granted, this was maybe 5 years ago, but I don't need to be bitten more than once to know to look elsewhere. I also had a Samsung phone, a little blue flip-phone, which was actually a really nice little phone, before everything went flat touch screen and all that.. But when it came time for my wife to turn it in and get a new one, there was the new Samsung Android phone, and the HTC Hero. My wife wanted the real keyboard that the Samsung offered, and which the HTC did not. But after getting it home, it was so flimsy, it seemed certain not to survive the month even with very careful gentle use, and plus there was such a lag between pressing a key and the data actually being entered, it rendered it completely useless for her purposes. So, we took it back and traded it for the HTC Hero, which was the one I thought she should have chosen all along. The feel of the HTC phone was just so solid, and it just worked. It was great, especially at the time. I, on the other hand, got stuck with that crapfest Samsung Instinct for 2 years, and could not WAIT until I was able to drown that thing and get myself a nice shiny new EVO. And HTC has become my choice from now on, and honestly I am just steering clear of Samsung and LG phones from here on out. (Speaking of bad phones, did any of you ever try that Samsung phone, I think it was called the 'Upstage' or something like that..? The one with screens on both sides, and a kind of external case/extra battery pack thingy? I had one of those for like 3 days, they tried to sell it to me.. what a piece of horrible junk!) I love my Samsung TV, but no mas on the phones. And then here is this Huawei company touting their brand new phones, and how thin they are. *shrug* Some of these companies are going to be hurting bad when they realize that the consumers are beginning to become more sophisticated when it comes to their electronics, and that 'just having one' is not going to be good enough. So all these companies ramping up production of $79 Android tablets (but with total crap performance and zero support) and going to be losing their shirts, because the customers will be running the other way. SO I turn a bit of a jaundiced eye to this Chinese company's super-thin phone efforts, because there better be a whole heck of a lot more under the hood than just being able to say 'But it's so thin!' Now that said, I always judge things fairly, so if they turn out to make a good product which will work and last, then more power and praise to 'em.. but they have to prove it first.
Unfortunately, those phones you had by Samsung are truly horrible. They have since changed now lol. However, LG phones are still a POS (good majority of them) I hope no one here has bought the Nitro HD (att) or the LG Revolution from Verizon. I agree with what you say though as far as LG being pretty decent outside of phones. I only have Samsung and LG tv's in my house and they all work great.
LG phones really are crap. I had a G2X which was the most frustrating phone I have ever dealt with. The screen would bleed from all 4 corners. It would constantly restart or turn off completely. It was so bad that T-mobile stopped selling the phone saying it was "sold out/ not in stock" Eventually t-mobile stated that there was a software problem with the g2x and they would pushing an update that would fix all problems. I had rooted and flashed my phone with several different custom roms and I was still having the same problems so I quickly got rid of the phone. I have no intentions on ever buying an LG phone again. I do however have a Samsung Galaxy S1, which I love. It does feel a bit cheap but its hell of a lot more durable then it feels. And you guys are right about LG TVs being real good. I have both Samsung and LG LEDs and both are amazing.
http://androidandme.com/2012/01/devices/fujitsu-outs-their-quad-core-android-4-0-superphone/ Fujitsi Quadcore Android 4.0 phone lol
moreso samsung galaxy series than the LG trump the sharp, panasonic, etc phones in japan. japan makes a lot of great things but theyre pretty slow in catching up with the times. most japanese still use flip phones.
Seriously what are they planning to use quad core phone for at the moment other eating up your batteries life?
The quad core tegra 3 uses less juice than the dual core version so your batteriy should last longer.
But I also believe their Dual Core Tegra 3 will last even longer than their Quad Core Tegra 3 if they do intent to make it. These Quad Core would be great for the tablets though and for the ARM Windows 8 version.
The idea is that people (like idiots) will buy it anyway, and after you've bought in, the company will then start working on ways to use it. It's like using consumers as an insurance policy against phones. There are so many out now that the risk of ANY phone flopping is high, so commitment from manufacturers will naturally be low. But people are so convinced that they need a FASTER phone to solve ANY problem they have on their phone, so they continue to pay up. I would argue that we chill on getting phones faster, and work on cloud storage + battery life.
