Brumbaugh to work with ex-NBA coach LucasAssociated Press

HOUSTON -- Forward Keith Brumbaugh, who averaged 30 points a game as a high school senior last year, said Wednesday he is making himself available for the NBA draft.

"I just wanted to test the waters to see if I am ready, see if any teams are interested," Brumbaugh told Houston television station KRIV. Brumbaugh, from Deland, Fla., is in Houston to work with former NBA head coach John Lucas.

Brumbaugh has not hired an agent and has not signed with any college program.

He scored 2,299 points during his high school career. He averaged 12 rebounds and five assists as a senior.

Lucas said he thinks a number of high school players are making themselves available for the draft because they fear the chance that a 20-year-old rule is coming. Brumbaugh is 18.

"Keith has got the potential to really, really be good," Lucas said. "One or two years of college wouldn't hurt him or if he's good enough to go that wouldn't hurt him either."

    Here's a little info about him: http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=12286&Sport=2

"Keith is a high-energy player. He is a legitimate 6-8 without shoes on. He can really do it all. He can score. He can rebound. He can pass. He can defend. Keith can really shoot the three. He can take it to the basket. He is long and lean. He just plays with so much energy you rarely find players that play harder than he does when he is out on the floor." -Nike Team Florida head coach Tom Topping

6'8 205 lbs, not too bad...

And a link should be posted, DUCK:)

I would, remember what happened to the last local high school teen that declared for the draft? :p If they work hard, they should be able to learn/adapt easily.

JVG might not want a high school player, but there are plenty of GM's that will......drafting ahead and behind us.
