Obviously you have never had anything stolen. I don't see how anyone can defend a thief. The beatdown, if anything, will prevent this fellow from thinking about stealing again.
Im not defending the thief. I despite thieves.I just can't understand how can some of you believe that 8 police officers beating a handcuffed kid is alright.
HPD... HAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAHAAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAA What did you expect (from them) anyways?
By the same token, I don't see how anyone can defend 8 grown ass men beating up on a 15 year old kid. As the story says, the kid was apprehended. He was not resisting arrest at this point. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Yes, stealing is wrong... but so is 8 grown men beating up on some 15 year old kid. In my opinion, both parties are at fault.
Too many of you are jumping to conclusions. Obviously, we only know one side from the story and that's the most sensationalist point of view. Nobody has heard from the cop's side, nor seen the surveillance tape. All we know is the kid is a thief and an officer kicked the kid while he was on the ground. I'll reserve my judgment until more is revealed.
That's the politically correct thing for the mayor to say to avoid a riot. It's still not factual evidence and not something I would base my opinion on.
A video isn't factual evidence? I'm not calling you an idiot but... I can't think of a way to finish that sentence. Granted, I am just repeating what the Mayor has stated. Perhaps the police men will paint a different story than what the video has to say.
But it's a FACT that the victim is a thief? I thought we only had one side of the story? Sorry, but you just come across as an apologist for fascist police state action. Hope you look good in a brown shirt!
I'm just saying that I'm reserving MY judgment until I see the video myself. I'd rather form my own opinions based on all the evidence given than to blindly follow someone else's potentially faulty opinion.
Then why did you say that we know the kid is a thief? Couldn't that also be "someone else's potentially faulty opinion"? Or is it only black community leaders and gay mayors that have faulty opinions?
China: Diplomat beaten, injured by Houston police BEIJING — China said Friday that a Chinese diplomat in the U.S. was beaten and injured by Houston police and urged an investigation to ensure diplomatic practices are not violated. The U.S. State Department was taking the matter very seriously and findings of the investigation would be shared with China "as soon as appropriate," said Susan Stevenson, spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. She referred further questions to Houston police, which did not immediately return calls seeking comment Friday morning. The statement from China's Foreign Ministry said police harassed and beat a deputy consul-general while he was driving to the Chinese Consulate in Houston. The statement said a family member also was involved, but did not say if that person was injured. According to a CBS News report, Houston police last Saturday tried to stop a car which was missing a license plate. When the car didn't stop, they pursued it into a garage without realizing the garage belonged to the Chinese Consulate. Police handcuffed and arrested the driver, injuring him, the CBS report said. Under international practice, the premises of foreign embassies and consulates are outside the jurisdiction of local law enforcement, and diplomats have legal immunity. The CBS News report identified the official as Ben Ren Yu. The Houston consulate website lists a deputy consul-general, Yu Boren. "China urges the U.S. ... to quickly investigate the details of this incident and to look into the persons responsible to ensure that the Chinese diplomatic and consulate personnel and premises are not violated," said the statement attributed to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu. "The Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Chinese Embassy and the Houston consulate have already made solemn exchanges with the U.S. side." U.S.-China relations only recently emerged from a tense period aggravated by spats over U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, trade and Chinese currency policy. Comments on at least two major Internet portals had apparently been deleted, an indication the case was considered sensitive, perhaps because of its impact on U.S.-China ties. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/facebook/6983234.html
IMO, the boy shouldn't of been beatin. If he was running from the police, that doesn't give them a right to beat him. From my understanding, not all of the officers were involved in the beating. These guys need to be fired and based on the Mayor's statements, this will be addressed. I hope that HPD can clean their act up because they're giving the good cops bad names. HPD has been involved in a lot of negative light and that needs to be fixed. I will say this though, the boy needs to be punish as well. No one should of put their hands on him but he shouldn't be stealing. Just because a sad and uncalled for situation took place doesn't give him a free pass. There's way too much crime going on and it's time for these kids/parents be punish.
If it were the homeowners, he could have been shot right? Atleast he's alive and remember - no one is above an ass whooping. especially if they go around burglarizing houses.
I'm all for holding the HPD officers accountable for their actions and am just as equally in favor of holding the kid accountable for his actions. However I despise this kid being made into a poster child for police brutality when he is out committing crimes and running from the cops.
