Clutch never really let out exactly who DocRocket is. But from the context that I've read, you can easily infer he's in the kind of position that KNOWS. Why do you think for any trade rumor Clutch calls this guy for confirmation? He's not a guy just looking for rumors either... if he says something, it's pretty legit. I'm pretty much sure that this is true, considering the source.

    Man, this is too much.

Can´t actually believe this is happening.

Problem is, who could we get for Hakeem?

The Knicks scenario seems somewhat likely, as they need a center. Alan Houston as our 3?

Maybe. Houston and Kurt Thomas sounds intersting.

Other than that? Maybe Minnesota is crazy enough to pull the trigger and free up capspace next year and give us Garnett? I don´t think so.

Who else? Portland wouldn´t want Hakeem. He wasn´t of much use against Shaq even in the lockout season.

Outside of those two teams, i can´t think of any other trade that would give us something in return.

Maybe Vancouver? Shareef is untradable, unless they are NUTS. Maybe Swift and Dickerson? Not so bad.

I don´t know. The idea of trading Hakeem is really a tough pill to swallow.

Miami could use a center for a year while Zo's out. That would put them back on top. I don't think they'd trade anyone of equal salary cap value to get him though as that would depleat the team too much in other areas. I'd love to have Shareef or a Vancover 1st round, but I don't think they even consider that. Why trade a great guy to free up cap space in the hopes of getting a good guy? I see Hakeem finishing this year in pjs and *maybe* next year playing for someone else.

That's your worst case scenario? Screw that.. show me what your best case scenario is then. This I gotta see. If it involves genetic cloning of Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan DNA to produce the uber-balla, then uh, nevermind.

No way the Rockets have leverage when speaking of a trade with the Timberwolves. They will not settle for cap space in return for Kevin Garnett.

No, they'll want a good player and some cap space. Believe me, if Garnett goes on the trading block teams will be lining up offering them the world for Kevin.

Um, no way the Wolves will go for this. Absolutely no way.

What's better? Having cap room and the risk of not getting anyone decent in return or Kevin Garnett? I'd say the latter.
Plus, as I already mentioned, other teams will offer better packages.

Shame on anyone who even thinks about it. I dont write posts very often, but I feel I must speak now. I dont care if Hakeem would even do as gracious an act as let us trade him for young blood. The fact is that if we do we are simply selling the Rocket organizations soul. Hakeem is, was, and always will be a Rocket. In fact, he is the Rockets! By having him put on another uniform it would be an injustice to player loyalty. Forget about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to believe, that Hakeem open a conversation like that. But if that what he wish for then I'll say, let's trade him to Sacramento or Minesota while he's still healthy. Don't get pissed now, you hear!

I'm not sure how the penalties against Minnesota work, but the way I see it, the league has almost guaranteeed that they will not win a championship for the next several years. If this leads Garnett to want out, couldn't the rockets offer a lot of picks they have coming to them plus Dream to Minnesota? Minnesota can have first round picks, right? Just not the one they earn by their play each year. The best way to heal that franchise is to trade Garnett for some 1st round picks over the next couple of years.

if hakeem didnt want the public to know, then hes gonna kick someones ass [IMG]. But i dont want him traded. I'll probably cry the day he is gone. and we sure as hell dont need houston. know why? because hes a two guard. Some of you want to trade anderson to give mobley more time, now why would you want another one. In my opinion he is ruining his image with Rockets fans. im not happy in the least bit but very fascinated.

    I agree. Why Allan Houston?

We already have Anderson, Mobley, and Francis. Houston would simply add to what already might be an overcrowded backcourt.

We could play some small ball using these guys at the PG, SG, and SF positions but I don't really see guys adjusting to it in the long run. God knows that problems linger on in NY.

I could definitely see the Wizards offering us a package that could include Juwan Howard. I would not go for it, obviously.

On Webber- The only way the Kings would trade him would be as so to get something in return. Cap space doesn't make sense, as they would be getting it anyway. No, they would only trade him for something good under the certainty that he's not coming back.

Arena vote is a big factor! Rudy and Co. has a lot to think about. To me, Garnett is the only one who makes sense, maybe Webber. If this happens, WHEN?

<No, the proposed scenario calls for a star to come to Houston. A good one or else it's not worth it. So, no Juwan Howards, in this case. >

Like who? Who would give up a star for the chance at a star next offseason?

    Cabbage,

The thing that doesn't work under condition number one is that the Rockets would never trade for an overpaid player under a long-term contract. They would rather wait for the cap space.

Promising player, spare parts, and picks will not equal to $16 million. Obviously, such a deal could work if this team is under the cap, but that would then defeat the purpose of getting Dream in the first place.

So, the only way I see it working is if either 1) Player doesn't fit in, 2) team needs Dream to complete title run and gives up a good player who doesn't really have a place in the team due to depth, 3) Player is not happy, and 4) Trade to clear cap space could be good due to a certain ruling made by David Stern. [IMG]

I think the only way to get something really valuable for Dream is to package him with one of our underpaid players. These would include Mobley, Francis, and Anderson. Sure, it would hurt to part with any of these guys but I think it's the only way to get someone like Garnett.

I proposed a three way trade in my article, which you can find at my site by clicking on the link in my sig.

I do agree with your comments in #2. If Hakeem signs for another team, I too would be seriously pissed off.

Portland is so far over the cap that clearing 16 million would still leave them a good ways away from a free agent run. Unless Kemp proves all-star form and Dream proves he can be a Shaq-stopper, while Sheed also proves he can play the 5, a Dream-Sheed deal won't happen.

Also, we don't need a 4. That would be the worst treatment of Mo. A 5 or 3, preferably 5, is what we need.

Garnett is the only answer, he can play the 3, 4, or 5. Odom would be allright, but makes no real sense for LAC unless Dream committs to a few more years of teaching Kandi.

Minnesota clearly needs to rebuild. The only way they can add to their team is with mid-level exceptions. McHale and the guys did a great job building a team, and blew it in one quick document.

I also agree that it will probably have to be a 3-way deal. So if they were to trade, for example, Garnett and Brandon, they would really prove to be in a rebuilding mode and allow Avery and Wally to be the key pieces.

    So how about this:
    To Houston: Garnett
To NYK: Olajuwon, Brandon, Second-rd Hou pick
To Minnesota: Camby, Houston, KT, Longley, Childs, W. Williams, 1 Houston pick

That gives us a lineup of Francis, Anderson, Walt, Mo, and Garnett.

It gives NY a lineup of Brandon, Sprewell, Rice, LJ?, Dream.

And Minnesota gets a future starting 5 of Avery, Houston, Wally, KT, Camby, with a pick and solid role players to improve/add to it.

Works on RealGM but can't be made until November 19 because of Longley.

Ace: What I'm saying is, how does trading Garnett for Hakeem+underpaid player benefit Minnesota? Sure, it clears cap room, but then what? The best case scenario for them would be to sign Webber, but with such a weak team, why would Webber even consider it? And even if they are somehow able to land Webber, how is he in any way an upgrade over the 24 year old, multitalented Garnett? The only thing that would accomplish would be alienating the fans who have certainly developed an emotional tie to the kid who has jumpstarted their franchise.

If you want to tie this into the recent Joe Smith developments, Garnett has already stated he will remain loyal to the organization. But even if the Wolves decide to trade Garnett, why in the world would they trade him for a fossil who is on his last legs and can't even play more than 5 minutes at a time?! It certainly wouldn't be for capspace (for the reasons I stated above). Garnett on the block would spark firesales across the entire league. Iverson+Ratliff+Geiger? That would be out there, but maybe even that wouldn't be enough to land KG. Kidd+Robinson+Marion? Certainly a better offer than Olajuwon (capspace). I just can't understand why anyone would think Minnesota would even consider trading Garnett, and much less even consider trading him for Hakeem.

As for Rahim, why would the Grizz trade him for caproom? Surely by now they would know that free agency isn't their thing. Why would they then trade their franchise player?

I also think alot of people are misunderstanding Clutch when he said, "He ended that by saying do you know how many teams would give everything to get that cap space? Like Sacramento?" This does not mean the Kings would trade Webber, rather they would trade the parts around Webber, hoping that they can clear enough cap room to land a big free agent to improve the team (and thus keep CWebb). Well what have they got that you want? Williamson is gone, and the rest of that team is garbage.

I completely forgot about this. We won't get a superstar (as stated above), and now you have proven that we can't get anything other than players on the last year of their contract. If we get people who aren't on the last year of their contract, we lose Taylor and/or Anderson. Well, that is exactly what Hakeem is....a player on the last year of his contract. So then what purpose does it serve to trade Hakeem, who is on the last year of his contract, for another player who is on the last year of his contract? That only pisses off the fans, ruines the Dream's legacy, and makes the organization look downright stupid (for passing on #5+#12 and taking a much lesser deal later on).

By trading Hakeem, we gain absolutely nothing.

Ace, just read your article. Very well though out, but I happen to disagree.

I´m not willing to part with Francis, Hakeem and put Mo´s signing in jeopardy for Garnett.

The price is way too high. Let´s not gut our entire roster just for the sake of getting Garnett he is a GREAT player, but he will NOT make up for the loss of Mo and Francis. We would end up in the same ol situation Minnesota is. First round exit after first round exit.

Mobley cannot play PG effectively, and I have a lot more faith in getting a quality 3 at the draft than finding the PG Francis has the potential to become. The kid is the second coming of Payton.

I still think we are a developed Cato and the right 3 from being contenders if everything falls into place.

There is a deal out there for Hakkem, we just have to find it.
