I take you back to sometime in 2000...I finally decide to actually register...and since I'm not very creative...I combined the reason I was here with the year that it was.....and voila................. My totally un-original and totally forgetable nym......Rockets2K... Tho I have also been known to be.... TheOriginalRockets2K myputersux.. and a couple of others that I have long since forgotten and never use.......
Well, my name is David, but most people call me Dave for short, and 2000 is the year I graduated from high school plus I suck at making up screen names.
Well, I sent out an e-mail to about 10,000 people entitled "Name my clutchcity.net BBS handle!" and offered a free pair of Dockers dress slacks to the winning entry. For some reason, I only got back three responses. One was "A-Train", one was "Buttplug McSphincter", and I got 9,998 that said "Don't send me another f***ing e-mail or I'll find out where you live and kick your ass!" Well, I really wanted to use the third one, but it was too long. The second one sounded good, but I was afraid that McDonald's would sue me for copyright infringment. So, A-Train was born...
Well I'm kind of a mythology/D&D nerd, and the Hydra is a cool creature, plus it is the standard rocket used on the Apache helocopter.
Lynus -- A silly college band nickname. The band was a frat, more or less, and freshman get nicknames which last forever and ever. They named me that due to a silly hazing thing that didn't pan out. I was supposed to wear a towel around my waist, but it kept falling off, which prompted me to just sling it over my shoulder, prompting inebrated upper-classmen, who had completely forgotten about this particular hazing/towel thing, to ask, "Why do you have that blanket? You look like Linus." And so Lynus stuck. Why the "y," you might ask? Beats me, but that's how they spelled it. 302 -- Same band thing; this was my jersey number for intramural sports. We got to choose those ourselved, and I've got a '93 Mustang GT with the 5.0 motor, which is 302 cubic inches..... ....and thus Lynus302 was born.
I used to work for Microsoft Sidewalk.com and had done some writing and editing for them. They were looking for someone to cover the Rockets. I wanted free tickets and proposed the following: They get me free tickets and a Batman mask. I wear the Batman mask to the games and cover the Rockets under the name Batman Jones. When I show up at press conferences, etc. wearing the Batman mask and asking questions, I generate publicity for sidewalk. They thought about it, but eventually passed. They hired CBFC instead, which I think was a pretty good call.
Be = "B"...first letter of my first name Had = first three letters of last name Not very original, but I've had it a long time...I have a behad@yahoo.com email address, I'm behad on ICQ and Yahoo Messenger, and behad3 on AIM. Try getting something that simple now on any of those sites!!
My first name starts with an "E" and I'm the "source" for all that is good in this world..... Actually, I'm a big hip-hop fan and read The Source magazine so ergo the handle: ESource
mf = short for magic fan clark = my middle name, aka the name that I go by Put it all together and that's what you've got: mfclark.
Well, back in the dot.com days of '98 (Damn, I feel like Grandpa, telling the young 'uns a story ) I started posting as Astro the Rocket. When we moved to .net, I realized it was a dumbass name, and changed it accordingly. Oh, and I like the 'Stros and Rockets. Rockets a lot more though, as I can't stand to watch any baseball if we aren't playing.
