With the bench production we have not been getting, we have needed to play them every minute they have been on court.

So Howard is asking for back-ups better than Black and Dorsey? I agree. Dorsey, I think, is rounding into form.

We got first set of reinforcements. We go for a big next. JSmith or someone else. Then we go for Dragic if he becomes available.

Once I played like 5-6 games in a row cus my teammates were good and we kept winning. I got fatigued and pulled a string.

Agree we need the ability to rest players sometimes.

I think Howard has a point but I think because of the serious injuries on some key rotational players the players who are healthy probably feel an obligation to play more.

Like I had posted in another thread - the team is getting healthy now - the coaching staff is having to adjust to having more players available for them to use -- the game against Portland was the first time that no starter played 40 minutes or more since the very first game of the month against Memphis (complete blowout). And while last night's game was a comfortable lead from the second quarter on - it wasnt like everyone was pulled right away - the starters did play in the 4th as well and yet the minutes were kept at a very good low level.

Ariza and Harden logged the most minutes of course especially over the last 2 weeks but we have back now:

    Papa
    Terry
    Canaan
    Brewer
    Shved

any of those guys can spell Ariza and Harden during stretches of the game so that both guys - especially Harden can be fresh for the last few minutes of a close game to finish it off. I mean at least with the two GS games this year the team was neck and neck and it was the last 3 minutes of the game that GS used its superior depth to just bulldoze the tired Rockets.

As a sports physical therapist I will tell you that fatigue can play a factor in all of the above injuries including most definitely Beverley's. I'm sure Dwight is just repeating what the the sports medicine staff has told the team. Dwight is just the messenger.

In response to this rep someone left me

Fatigue is fatigue. It doesn't only count after it has accumulated over several games. A player can get injured because of fatigue the first game of the season. All it takes is going past your level of conditioning, that's when your movement starts getting sloppy and your basically dragging your body, rather than pushing it. One OT game, where a player has been pushing himself extra hard, could be enough.

I thought so too, at first, but I checked his minutes log and he was only playing about 30 a game prior to his first flare up. So, I'm not sure it was fatigue from games. Maybe it was just a bad step on a certain play.

By the way, would you mind checking out this thread? Although I've got a degree in this field, I dont work in it, so it would be great to get your opinion on my last post.

When you talk fatigue it's all relative. If Beverley reached fatigue at 27 minutes and played 30 then he was at risk for a fatigue related injury from minutes 27-30..and the way Beverley plays defense his 30 minutes is not the same as the next person's 30 min.

I'll check out the post and let you know what I think.

Lol, I just edited my other comment and posted something similar, so I agree, it could be. Knowing Bev though, I would expect his threshold to be higher than that, but it's difficult to know without knowing all of his workload ( pregame, game, post game).

Which reminds me...the team lifts after games, especially home games. I wonder if that's a new thing this season or not?

We can't play at playoff intensity all year. guys are playing hard but it's taxing. We do need to rely on our bench more.

I think we should rest Howard more, and play Dmo at center - Howard has a lot of miles on those knees.

Howard takes home a 1/3 of the total pay for the Rocket players then talks about playing to much. ( dance bo jungles dance ) If he cared I mean really cared he would take a cut in pay so the Rockets could pay to have a bench. That would be manning up or play his minutes and stay out of the media.

Several of my yawns after reading his quotes come from fatigue. Dude, you missed a dozen games. How much more rest do you need? I like the guy, and maybe his quotes are taken out of context or are the result of just bad timing, but really, you didn't play much pre-season.... you've missed a dozen games... I'm not sure your minutes are that off the chart when you HAVE been there... and the roster is as good as we can get it with the salaries we have in place...

I understand wishing things could be better, but stop saying the wrong things.
