That's over and done now and asik is hurt anyway. I think the team has a chance to do something in the playoffs that the fans would be happy about. Min contract around Howard is not going to get it done. And soft players with no D or heart is a failure in playoffs. We just need solid role players that value playing D and that have playoff experience.
Asik is more imposing defensively. Howard is better offensively. Howard is a better athlete. Howard has trouble against quality inside big men and stretch big men: Cousins, Gasol, Spencer Hawes, Andrea Bargnani. Asik doesn't have great hands and doesn't have the moves or passing skills of Howard. It would be good if McHale found a way to integrate Asik into the rotation with quality minutes, but he hasn't been able to do so.

Quite frankly we don't need him to dominate the Larry Sanders and Greg Drummonds of this league but it would be nice to have a strong weapon while facing Ibaka/Perk, Griffin/Jordan and Hibbert/West (dominating guys like Demarcus Cousins wouldn't be bad either) And yes i also agree, that having him is tempting for another star to come so the trade all in all had to be done.
How many games did asik have of like 5/4? How many minutes did Dwight play in those games? How many shot attempts?
Who cares? Did you consider minutes played, shots attempted, plays run through the center position for both respectively? Btw the minutes played for Dwight were low in some BECAUSE he couldnt stay out of foul trouble. And besides YOUR argument was just that Dwight's worst games (remember the 2pt game?) were as good as Asik's average.
Asik got into foul trouble a lot as well. You posted the lowest 25th percentile of Dwight's performances this year, which equaled Asik's averages (roughly) last season. In the poorest performances by Dwight, there were simply not enough plays run through the center position. In short, we are not utilizing him to his highest potential. If the team is content to chuck and brick threes instead of feeding Dwight, not only will we lost the majority of the time, Dwight will have a mediocre game.
I guess you can't admit, that your statement was just plain wrong. Read my posts again and find where I say Asik is equal or better than Howard. Exactly oyu can't cause I didn't say that. The only reason I replied to your post was your claim, that Dwights WORST games were equal to Asik's average. Citing failures of the system to get him the ball are completely useless since Asik never had any plays run through him either, so what's the point to tell that? Again, my point is not to proove Asik is better (which he's not), but just to show, that Dight is not Superman compared to Clark Kent..more like the Hulk compared to the Blob orso..Hulk=Can't be destroyed but you never know what he's doing or if just vanquish his own team vs The Blob=Can't be destroyed and solid but not much going beyond that lol
Oh and forgot to add..roughly the same would be true if you forget about the rebounding but exactly that is one of our bigger problems and in that aspect Dwight is not getting the job done enough imo (or as good as you are claiming him to do)
We were nr.1 on D glass last year with Asik Anyway,Signing Dwight was not really a good move, even though most people won't realize it (saw some who admit it) Asik was a better fit with our system,He sets some of the best ball screens in basketball,he is still young(I know he is 27 but he started playing with 17) and I think he can still improve. Just me though
Dwight is the clear #1 center in the league. I don't understand how you could suggest that signing him is the problem this year. We are still lots, lots better than we were last season. The center position is the least of our problems, even with Our 5th best player being a punk b**** and refusing to play. I'd argue that the C spot is the strongest on the team.
This team misses the hard screens that asik set to help them penetrate to the rim. Howard's screens are weak and half-assed, smh. The dude needs to be better in that area
He also won't leave a 5-foot radius from the basket to close out on whoever he is guarding if they shoot a 10-15 foot shot so he will be nowhere in sight. That is just laziness.
One of my biggest pet peeves about Howard is that he goes for the block every single time and gives up a layup.
This. Can't believe anyone is actually putting any efforts into a case one way or another. The premise is so beyond stupid, it boggles my mind.
Is there anyone here who thinks the Rockets would NOT be better off with Aldridge or Love (with Asik at center) instead of Howard?
