Those negative numbers dont suprise me. Juwon Howard is a liability on the floor.

Let's see how JH pads his stats. ;)

In the past 4 games where Yao was missing, he is averaging:

    39 mpg
    .509 fg%
    8.5 rpg
    17 ppg

He is scoring right at his career average and shooting and rebounding better. Interpret whatever way you want.

That's Juwon's career in a nutshell. Average decent numbers while he is one of the options on the ofense while his teams keeps losing. If he is depended on to win games, it's already a lost hope and cause. On a championship caliber team he should be getting no more than 5-10 minutes to relieve someone. The fact that he is in our starting lineup, even when we are healthy, says we are not there yet. Of course, we dont really have someone who can replace him either. We just suck at PF spot.

I can only stand Bowen in spurts but Howard has really been aggressive over the last couple of game and tired to lead as best he can.

If you ask me, J. Howard and D. Wesley should be given a lot of respect for the way they've played during this injury plagued season.

I knew you'd say this. But I think you are confusing a solid role starter and a star player who "is depended on to win games." Yeah, any team that depends on a guy like JH to win games is no championship team. But does that mean a 17-8 guy should "be getting no more than 5-10 minutes to relieve someone"?

According to your logic, the vast majority of NBA teams have only 2 or 3 guys that should be in the starting lineup.

    they should

    but you know they wont.

It becomes very easy to tell who has very little ability to properly analyze games in this forum, they normally start threads like this one.

news flash: +/- stats are overrated for telling who should not be playing.

btw....saw a bit on the broadcast last night....Juwon has averaged right at 19 pts a game over the last 4 games...if you sit down a guy that scores that much on a team as lacking in scorers as this one...just who in the bloody hell is gonna score for us?

Stro?? dont make me bust a gut
Baxter?? dont get me wrong, I like the guy, I think he works hard and does a pretty decent job...but a scorer he aint.
Rybo?? honestly....love the guys hustle and determination...but his shot is horrible..if he gets the ball, he needs to find a way to get it to someone else, and quit jacking up anything outside 8 feet.

comeone people...this forum deserves better posts than the ESPN boards, why do yall persist in posting before you think?

Flyin' Ryan needs to park his ass at the FT line and wait for an open look from there. He got that shot twice in a row a while back and I have never seen him there again. He is a 70% career FT shooter, so it is within his range, of course in game action he won't hit it 70% of the time, but if he can be a 45-50% option on offense, at least the other team will need to start covering him.

Maybe we should grab Clutch the Bear to play PF. Wait that Towel Boy looks pretty big, maybe we should use him. We really don't have much options here. Juwan Howard is doing alright. The fact is Swift and Bowen are our problems. Whether or not it is JVG's system that isn't allowing Swift to excell, I don't know. Fact is Juwan Howard is our best option at PF and unless we can trade to get someone awesome for him he's who we're just going to have to live and die with right now at pf. Bowen shined during last year's playoffs on the defensive end and I don't ever really remember him shining offensively at all. I think our main issue right now is our back court. With the limited choices of Scott Padgett, Ryan Bowen, and Juwan Howard the rockets were still able to pull some miracles and be pretty damn good. The problem is our back court productivity has declined significantly from last season. When Bobby Sura came in and Wesley was traded for even though they were not the greatest acquisitions they were at least consistent and at least produced a little bit. Right now no one is doing a darn thing. Derek Anderson has been a joke. Wesley looks lost without his back court mate Bobby. Jon Barry is injured and so is Skip. Moochie..well he's still Moochie...We need to fix the back court and ASAP! Yao will eventually be back and Deke should still be ok to back him up. We screwed up with the acquisition of Swift but hey Juwan Howard and Rybo was ok last season.

Lay off JH. His proverbial oral herpe won't infect you in a stadium 'cuz other than that I don't see why the best power forward and second option on the team right now shouldn't play.

Ryans ok. But Howard lost his shot, which last year he consistenly makes. It's just frustrating that we can't get something out of him.
