Damn right. If some smaller guy tried that crap on me on the court, I'd throw him to the floor and make sure he knew that he was playing like he was auditioning to be an WNBA towel boy.
There was another no-foul rebound on which Yao was thrown or pushed out from under the basket. There was also an obvious flop against Yao on which he was called for an offensive foul. This is a continuation of last year. It is all clear as a bell if you have a DVR. Why it continues is a mystery. A case could be made that there is more to Yao's treatment or misstreatment by the referees than meets the eye based on what you see on the court and considering the drama that unfolded when JVG challenged the referees last year. What ever it is I don't know - but it certainly taints the game for me.
Hey youngin, keep this kind of trash off this board. As for the pic. I wish Yao would have elbowed them.
Rockets "fan" with anger management issues: Yao is a soft wuss for not punching both guys in the face and then proceeding to bite each of their noses off and then spitting the blood and flesh on the Boston cheerleaders before proceeding to grope them. Referee: Clearly a foul on yao for pushing both player out of the way with his forearms. Me: How do I feel? it doesn't make me rigid in any way.
B. Personal Foul Section I--Types a. A player shall not hold, push, charge into, impede the progress of an oppo-nent by extending a hand, forearm, leg or knee or by bending the body into a posi-tion that is not normal. Contact that results in the re-routing of an opponent is a foul which must be called immediately. CONTACT SITUATIONS 2. Guarding an Opponent In all guarding situations, a player is entitled to any spot on the court he desires, provided he legally gets to that spot first and without contact with an opponent. If a defensive or offensive player has established a position on the floor and his opponent initiates contact that results in the dislodging of the opponent, a foul should be called IMMEDIATELY. During all throw-ins, the defensive player(s) must be allowed to take a position between his man and the basket. A player may continue to move after gaining a guarding position in the path of an opponent provided he is not moving directly or obliquely toward his opponent when contact occurs. A player is never permitted to move into the path of an opponent after the opponent has jumped into the air. A player who extends a hand, forearm, shoulder, hip or leg into the path of an opponent and thereby causes contact is not considered to have a legal position in the path of an opponent. A player is entitled to a vertical position even to the extent of holding his arms above his shoulders, as in post play or when double-teaming in pressing tactics. Any player who conforms to the above is absolved from responsibility for any contact by an opponent which may dislodge or tend to dislodge such player from the position which he has attained and is maintaining legally. If contact occurs, the official must decide whether the contact is incidental or a foul has been committed.
I was at the game and saw that play. There was no foul called and I think a third Celtic player grabbed the loose ball, if I remember correctly. And the crowd started teasing Yao. I wanted Yao to refuse to go back for defense but pull a 'sheed and get a T. That was ridiculous. It seems we never get good treatment when that female ref calls the game.. Just an observation. Of course, even if refs called the game in our favor, we'd still have lost it. After the first Q, we were like wtf had just happened?... I also noticed that after Blount scored the first few baskets, JVG called a timeout and yelled at Yao while Yao just sat there and lowered his head. Perhaps it had some effect on his confidence? what's funny was that they had a magician playing card tricks during the half time. and the booing was the second loudest noise of all night, next to when LaFrentz got off the court.
he still got 10 rebounds last night! amazing. he needs to throw guys off of him. just once early in the game would set a team striaght. he can afford one tech a night, right?
If you look at the picture careful, the referee is standing right behind them (you can see the black pant right besides Yao's left leg). How could he not see it?
