Battier doesn't count as long term talent and is gradually declining, but Thabeet is a very poor player. The Suns trade is OK. Giving up Ish,may hurt us a bit. The picks are going to be low. I do agree that we got little out of it.
Ish? Na, he's just a crappy throw-in. Battier can still play, so we may suffer a bit here early, but acquiring Dragic was good and I don't see how getting Thabeet hurts when we're just taking a flier on him. Plus, 2 first-rounders were involved? That's good GM'ing, my friends...
Difficult to bash a guy when all he had to work with was this roster. All our players except Martin and Lowry played their stocks down this year, none worse than Brooks. The thing that pisses me off most about Brooks is that you'd expect a man, you know, the MAN man in the sense of the word, to try harder and put in more work once he's been slighted the way Brooks thought he was by not getting that contract extension. But no, he just mailed it in, and I'm not even talking about his injury. Shooting <30% from three after he'd been above 40 all last year just says to me that 1. he let it get into his head and proved himself to be mentally weak (aka not like Kobe during the rape trial) in doing so, and 2. a part of him was sulking and actually happy to see the Rockets suffer from his s***iness. So screw you Brooks, you lose out on a boatload of money for hurting us this year, and after you don't get that big contract you wanted this offseason...good luck.
I'm suprised we held onto Jeffries and Yao. And it really pissed me off seeing solid players being acquired for CRAP. Gerald Wallace for Pryzbilla and a pick? We couldn't make a better offer? I'll give him a C+.
exactly, this trade reeks of past trades. AB for dragic + 1st (wtf?) battier for thabeet ( a nice step towards the future)
finally someone gets it. People rip on brooks and battier all the time. I guess they haven't seen dragic or thabeet.
Trades are not that bad.... Brooks was done with this team. We did not want to pay him a lot so getting Dragic who is cheap next year is good. Plus we really did not Brooks offense in this team. As long as Dragic brings energy and makes play for Patterson/Lee/Bud.. we will be fine. I really doubt we would have signed Shane after this year so to get a decent center out of him is okay. Thabeet may develop in to decent player in future. Picks are good to have. But I am still disappointed because going in to this deadline, we had more hopes. We had expiring contracts, trade exception, Yao ming, Young talent... willingness to take on good players. We aimed high.. we chased Melo, D-Will, Camby, Nene, Wallace.... what we really got is just nothing in comparison of what we were aiming for. Future-wise: Only future will tell Present-wise: Brooks departure won't hurt.. but Shane's going to hurt us big time unless Terrence Williams just do miracles. I don't see Bud having ability to defend. I don't Lee tall enough to handle SF. T-Will is really the only hope for that position.
2010/11: $9,862,500, 2011/12: $10.65 million, 2012/13: $11,437,500 (Player Option) Ugly, ugly, ugly contract. No thanks.
monster potential during a game? You could use that same excuse with AB, who had 4 or 5 of those games in the playoffs. I watched dragic a lot last year, he was abysmal at the beginning but did improve, although not to a level that would have yielded us a better end of the trade.
This is an A or B level haul imo. My buddy and I were chatting yesterday and I was hoping DM would pull these EXACT moves, trading players for little bit lesser players + 1st rounders. The only reason it's a B is because I was hoping we move Yao's contract for Baron + Clipper's 1st rounder. 4 1st round picks even in a weak draft could net some solid talent, or a really high pick this year, which can be parlayed into a superstar.
When we traded for Lowery I was not high on that trade. Well I was wrong. It may turn out that Thabeet is the guy to help us out. Only time will tell. I like the trades I would give him a "B" I think we will be happy next soon.
I guess we picked a great time to trade intangibles! The one time he was important as a leader around a young team we dump him. Sad silly and stupid trade. Let us toast to eternity in purgatory.
Morey is not to blame It looks like the tide has turned in Clutchfans..... First off let me say i was a bit disappointed at the lack of moves before the deadline. I was also expecting this to be the blockbuster trade we had been waiting for but it just didn't happen. What some of you fail to realize is that this is not in Morey's control. He isn't going to make a stupid trade for the sake of just making a trade. 2 superstars were dealt, and both were dealt to teams that had better offers than we could come up with. That is not Morey's fault......he will continue to attain the assets in order to be that team that does pull the trigger on a superstar. In addition while he is waiting for his opportunity in the sun, he is trading for players with upside incase one of these guys pan out, Twill, Thabeet, Jhill, and 1st round draft picks. I don't see anything wrong with his plan and in fact support what Morey is doing. Teams rarely can rebuild in 1 offseason....these things sometimes take years. Morey will get his chance to get his superstar it just might take longer than some of you want. Deal with it
DM makes out on small moves like a bandit. You would like to go shop in a flee market with him and the money ball up in his sleeve.
You guys have to realize that Battier had an expiring contract. Let's face it, we're probably not going to make it into the playoffs or wouldnt even last in it if we did. As much as I don't like this trade, it's better to get something for nothing. I believe it's mentioned that we have four 1st round draft picks for next year (I'm not sure but I heard this on 610). It's something that we can use to either trade for a superstar or try and get lucky to draft someone who can become a star. I'm not saying this is something we should aim for but considering that we're already in a rebuilding process, it's a really damn good trade.
