Many deals have been thrown around since before last years deadline. Most of the proposed sign and trades for Bosh included Luis. Now, while Bosh is off the board, there are other moves that could improve the Rockets. And there is a decent chance that Scola could be brought into the discussion.

Take a minute to assess the situation.

    Luis -

a highly skilled pro who has honed his abilities to an edge through hard work

ALWAYS gives 100% .... has a motor that doesn't quit

    great 15 - 20 ft. J

a dazzling array of post moves

will take the charge/flop as good as anybody (not saying I appreciate flopping except when it's one of our guys)

is a winner/embodiment of the kind of player you want on your team

    ALSO

Scola makes 9- 10 million a year - probably pretty fair, but still

doesn't have the athleticism to play great interior defense beyond positioning
and while he rebounds at a decent clip isn't a windshield wiper

despite his age I believe some upside exists here but not much

There is a part of me that would love to see Scola retire a Rocket. He's our kinda people.

But - As long as we have our wagon hitched to Yao being healthy, the Rockets need length and athleticism out of our 4 IMO.
And, there is the matter of trading for a superstar, which we clearly have the assets(including Luis) to do.

    Do we sell high?

Our Greek T-mac didn't last in the NBA very long. Please don't jinx Scola.

though i agree this is a stupid threat, the idea may not be that far fetched. obviously his value is high after this FIBA tournament, but i wouldn't trade him for just anyone. scola's work ethic and hustle might be the most valuable aspects of his game, (other than his post skills.) that's why he fits in so well here.

Perhaps not the greatest timing to ask this on Clutchfans.

Sure I'd live if we traded him, but only if it was for something damn good. You don't trade people just for the sake of them having value.

Bulls won't benefit from that trade. They won't do it.

I'm a HOUSTON ROCKETS fan and while I would love to see Luis do his thing in one of our unis for years, if a deal came down the pike for, say Chris Paul, Carmelo (and Birdman), etc. , it's bye bye Luis.
