?

Pick one.

  1. Professional :: Could play in the NBA or any other professional leagues.

    10.9%
  2. Elite :: Dominates the court everytime you step on it. Yet, not good enough to go pro.

    1.9%
  3. Great :: You definitely contribute to your team and have lots of flashy moments.

    10.6%
  4. Good :: You're not the best on your team, but you can hold your own against anyone.

    26.3%
  5. Average :: You have good games, you have bad games. Inconsistent.

    24.7%
  6. Anything below average...

    25.6%

That may be the case. I spent very little time playing organized ball, only for a brief stint in Middle School and then on IM teams in college, but I put a lot of time on working on dribbling drills and other fundamental drills. I guess if you are just looking to play a pickup game with friends once a week you might not be inclined to do dribbling drills up and down the court on your own.

I am an average player that never played organized ball. 5'11 who used to be able to dunk back in the day. Better conditioning would put me in the above average category, but I tire after 2 games.

    Strengths:
    Athleticism
    Rebounding
    Shoot blocking
    man defense

    Weaknesses:
    Endurance
    can't dribble
    can't shot
    Bad finisher

I would argue that dribbling comes naturally. I played organized sports, and we hardly did any dribbling drills. After years of steady progression pick-up games, school games, etc. I noticed that I just naturally got better.

Still looking for anywhere to play between 5-8 on the weekdays and anytime on the weekends.

I know where I come from, if there are usualy 2 or 3 places playing full court pick up games on any given day, then in Houston there has to be somewhere somebody is playing ball, especially on a Saturday.

My JV coach made a point of saying before every game that he would play every one, and after the second or third game never played me, even once. It was a small boarding school and I was the only black on the team; so clearly I suck/sucked.

Was on the A team at my middle school, but coming off the bench. Our team was pretty stacked. We only had one loss, but won against that team in the championship game. My biggest achievement was winning MVP at a church league. Then I went to High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.... so yea.. I'm pretty terrible now. Jump shot isn't always there, and I shy away from contact. I still have good Bball IQ though, so people enjoy playing with me. (I hope...)

I'm a pretty big deal when I get on the court. I could've gone Pro, but chose to live a low-key life instead.

I'm pretty good at drawing charges and offensive fouls. My debate skills are also unrivaled when it comes to debating a foul.

I also cry when I lose, which isn't often. Probably why I cry.

I stopped playing competitively in my early 40's. In my teens and twenties I had a 36" vertical. I used to be 6'4", 230. I am now down to 210 for health reasons. I was the fastest sprinter in my school. As to basketball, I was known for quick hands and excellent shooting. My ball handling was below average, the weakest part of my game. I was a good passer though and a very good defender. That is all I have to say, and I didn't participate in the poll.

Pretty solid all around. Can play the 1, 2, or 3. More of a spot of shooter but I have decent handles. I pride myself on defense.

Went to a clutchfans meet two summers ago. Pretty decent competition. ClutchCityReturns was probably the best on the court. Rocketgirl can ball as well, she was one of the better players out there.

Going to be honest unlike most here. Average to good.

Played one year of highschool ball before quitting for other sports.
Used to be a solid 6 foot 190who shot the three well and hustled. Always have had great timing, so blocking shots was something I've always been good at.

Grew three inches and went from 190 to 240. Hit the gym constantly and changed the game considerably. I love to post, and have really learned to put defenders under the rim for an easy shot. Hate the perimeter now and just love rebounding and beating people up downlow. I can dribble mediocre and I'm a fairly good passer. I can barely dunk, but my timing allows me to block a shot or two a game.

After changing my game considerably, I realize how much fun it is to play down low. If your the strongest guy on the court, it makes things easy when you are 8 feet from the basket.

Pretty good, think I have talent for all kinds of sports, ball sports come natural to me. I learn really quick and reach a good level in no time with a bit of practice. It's like when I randomly went to the local basketball club which plays regular league games in an okay league. I didn't play for one year straight and only one time per week the years before, but still managed to bury them for 30+ points in practice without effort. I'm like 5'11 PG with great shooting and court vision and feel like I could've played in a pretty high league if I played regularly all my life. Even now I barely play but make club members that I occassionally meet on the playground look bad.

Same with soccer, I play midfield in my free time and have a pretty good technique, but was always too lazy to join a club and take it serious.

Looking back, I wasted my opportunities and really regret it.

6'3, played college ball hae gotten taken by some guys in the league and have also held my own against many of them during college and the summer circuit. Interestingly, can't dunk and while I am easily over athletic i never had hops, in college i wasn't the main star but i did have some 20 point games in d1...had a feeler for dleague and europe...chose corporate life benefits from some connections in school...and yes, have guarded Jeremy lin and met some industry professionals that we talk about here.
I am not better than many people in the elague, i know that based on special talent, but i know i have the tools and skills to at least hold my own and i know my role sort of thing

Played 4 years of varsity in high school, was a manager for a mid-major D1 team and could hold my own against any of the walk-on guards, and was definitely better than a few of them. Good handles and vision, quick hands and feet on D, nose for loose balls and long rebounds. Good finisher with both hands, but a spotty jumper from outside 15-18 feet, too much time spent playing on double rims growing up.

My major limitation was that I plateaued at 5'7". I've also lost a lot of explosiveness from when I messed up my knee a while back. Now it obviously depends on the competition. In a rec league or something against older dudes, I'd definitely be the best player on the team for most squads. In pick-up games with DII/DI benchwarmer-level guys, I can blend in without being obviously the worst on the court.

My ball handling needs improvement. I can rebound and box out really well for my height. My shooting form is good, just needs more practice at some parts of the court. I defend really well and give it my all on defense, which usually tires me out a lot. I def need to work on my stamina.
