Well since I don't play now, I'll talk about when I did play and my measurements from then. 6'1" 130 lbs (yes you read that right, I had a high metabolism). Strengths: Great Rebounder, good leaper, nose for where the ball will land Good Defense, good at staying on defender and stripping, but not against physical players. Decent scorer: Could shoot from anywhere fairly average, can also drive fairly well. Could do a pullup jumper from anywhere on the court regardless of how well I was guarded. Good Passer Weaknesses: Poor dribbling skills Sometimes bad shot selection Incredibly small wingspan. I had people 3 inches shorter than me that have a higher standing reach. Not good attacking from the left side.
Never played much of anything but half court basketball games going to 15 by ones. I guess in my alleged "prime" I was capable of maybe 3 pts, 6 boards and I could set a good pick (300lbs will do that). Now its more like 1 point, 3 boards and 4 personal fouls.
Heh...heh...heh ..... MM - I wouldn't go so far as to say you resemble Mark Eaton - Sasquatch, trapped in the Northern Utah ..... shaved... dressed in a Jazz uni ...and trotted out onto the Hardwood every night ... NO NO !!! Because YOU ARE THE WHOPPER, MY MAN!!! ......On and off the court, you've got major game, baby. I mean how could it be anyone else?
I'm not tall and fast, so that right there puts me at a disadvantage. I voted "Average" for several reasons. I have a wide-ranging jumpshot. Consistent mid-range game, and a streaky but dangerous three-point game. I am a pretty excellent passer, and can "thread the needle" if you will. My handling is what I always try to work on, but can't seem to improve much at. I can take the ball up a court, and shake average defenders, but if I'm going up against good-great defenders, I usually find that I have to pass the ball or look for a screen/help. I would've voted myself as "good," except I'm a pretty lackluster defender... I'm more likely to follow the ball and go for risky steals than sticking to my man.
I put myself as great. I used to be on varsity in high school. In high school I wasn't as dominant cause they make me play C, still averaged 12-14 ppg. But when I played pick up games outside of school I was dominant. I was able to play and guard any position. Since college, I've slowed down, but picking it up slowly. Used to have a 28 inch vert. This makes me sad, cause I'm not as good as I used to be. I'm 6'2'' and 230. I have dropped many people using a simple crossover. Some people have told me I'm stronger and quicker than I look. Okay I'm done bragging...
Let me assess all of your basketball skills on Saturday at 5. I should make it out again this weekend.
Does 'Michael Jordan in Chuck Norris God mode' ring a bell, because that's me on a basketball court... owning each and every day, b****es! Spoiler Oh wait, I thought this was post a lie thread, my bad'z...
Being realistic I voted great. I consider myself the Australian Rudy Fernandez. I'm 6'4 180lbs. In a country where there are very few above rim players, i think it's an area i excel in. I prefer to play 3 man but can slip into 2 and 4 spots comfortably. My strength is definitely offense but i block more shots then you would think. My biggest weakness in my inability to slash, i'm hesitant since i usually get injured this way, hence recovering from torn ankle ligaments. Career game highlights include: Baseline alley dunks. Couple of reverse dunks in transition. 7 threes in a single game. I've also played against Patty Mills, AJ Ogilvy and was on the same High school team as Mitchell Young.
I'm like 6'1, pretty damn skinny. like 165lbs But for some reason I like to post up. I guess I'm pretty average, I have this turnaround fadaway jumper in the low post, and on a good day when those shots are falling, you can't really stop me. I really don't have a consistent outside shot, below average handles. But I guess i have a bit of bounce for an Asian--Can barely dunk with one hand. But I do get destroyed occasionally by really strong players in the post
If I had to describe my game, I'd probably say it's like a 5'9" Chase Budinger. I'm freakishly vertically gifted, but not amazingly fast or laterally quick. I am a capable dribbler with both hands, but generally will not be seen crossing people up or pulling off any And1 trickery, especially against pressure defense. I tend to prefer jumpers because I connect at a high rate and it's less work than driving...but I am capable of driving when I want to and finishing because of my leaping ability. I also like to play in the post a little bit since that's what I grew up playing. My court vision and passing is good, but not great. My biggest weakness is probably that I play pretty laid back most of the time...usually don't go all out unless someone pisses me off. I wish it weren't like that. But how GOOD am I? It's really all relative. I did not play in college, but had a couple of offers from smaller schools (not D1). I would never go as far as to say I'm the best on this board considering the sheer amount of posters and the fact that some NBA players are registered users, but I am confident in saying that I'm probably in a high percentile. By the way, this kind of thread really gets me in the mood to play, and especially to see some of these assessments come to life. Everyone who can should really try and make it out to play with us. The weather should be perfect. Saturday Clutchfans pick up games.
I saw one of your dunking videos, man you got hops. did you train for it or did it just come naturally
