How would you adjust for the game 2? How about try to be more supportive, talk less trash about our players and coach, and most importantly understand the gap between our team and OKC. If you want call yourself a fan, why don't you do your part of job which is cheering for your team. And let players and coaches do their job.
Better off the ball movement. The more slashes towards the bucket or the bigs setting better off the ball picks to free up the guards means the primary ball distributors have better targets to pass the ball to and we wont see an stagnante offense which results in a contentest jumper with a few seconds left on the shot clock. This will also means better 3pt looks and less ISO.Move the ball and move off the ball.
Let see. I start Asik, TJones, Parsons, Harden and Lin. I play zone defense where 3 is in the paint and two in front (3-2). I don't change offense, just more spacing and more agressive drives to the paint. Tell Asik to be eye open in every play, so he can catch the pass and finish. Later, it depends what is the results of that in first quarter. I may bench Lin in last 3 minutes of 1q, and also bring DMo if Collison go's in. Omer out for Smith, Parsons out for Delfino in 2q, and back in last 4-5 minutes (with Lin). Harden play till the end of 1half, DMo plays till the end if no foul trouble and no ****ty plays. If not, I bench him for TJones again. 2half starts as same as the game started. In last 4-5 minutes of 3q I let DMo, Beverley, Delfino and Smith play (maybe even Garcia or Anderson for Harden). The only reason is to rest starters before 4q. In last quarter I play starters, and only play different PF's if needed. Also if Lin sucks then Beverley gos in, if we lead or trail by couple of points - Beverley plais also. We need great defense.
Durant, Westbrook, Martin, Sefelosha, and Ibaka would destroy us from the 3 point line if we went zone!
Not trying to be a douche, but a 3-2 zone would be 3 guys up top (1 at the top of the key, 1 on each elbow/wing) and a 2 down low. A 2-3 zone would be 2 up top and 3 down low. Easy to get them mixed up, kinda like 3-4 and 4-3 defenses in football, I always have to think twice about those lol
Lol, it's easy to get mixed up. I played a zone all through high school so its locked into my brain... I'm also going to school to be a coach... So Yeah, I have to know that stuff lol
Run... if you can't, PnR them to death. Let them taste picks all over the place. Alternate PnR with Harden and Lin. I just hope our bigs are up to it.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4zJlzkUpjTo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> need to go at westbrook, and really make him work. Too much isoing on the switches means the defense doesnt really have to 'work' just need to try our best to get OKC out of their comfort zone. Im excited for the game 2morow though, see what we've got
Shoot 3s all game long, ala 06-07 Phoenix Suns. If they go in, we'll win. And if they don't, try again in game 3.
I like the idea of using a stretch four to pull Ibaka out, but i would use Jones or DMo at the four. Either it pulls Ibaka out or they get wide open 3's in the corner. I also wouldnt start Bev, he will be needed when we yank Lin for throwing away passes. Also, they need to give Garcia some run, he's earned it.
I don't think it'll really matter either way. They're better than us at very point apart from SG. Made us look like a d league team.
The biggest difficulty we have is that our offense is 3 vs 5 due to Asik and Smith's poor offensive skills. They can not both start together. Asik alone is a huge liability on offense. I'd rather just start D-Mo. And if Asik isn't doing anything on offense, he should be setting screens on every play rather than being concerned with setting up position for rebounds. Just screen screen screen 24/7 like Duncan did for Parker in that video. It's the only way he can really help on offense since he won't score any points on Ibaka.
Play smart for 48 minutes not 21! Ball movement, Attack more Liked the D adjustment in the first half after OKC jumped out really early.
For game 2 I would make a couple adjustments. Move Smith to the 2nd unit, go 4 small + Asik in the starting unit and play a zone defense. This does a couple things. First, it adds more offense to the floor. It's hard for the Rockets to win when there's only 2 or 3 players that are legitimate offensive threats. Harden, Lin and Parsons all have to be respected. Adding Delfino and/or Beverley to the mix would help considerably in terms of stretching the floor and more importantly pulling Ibaka out to the perimeter. We need to give up on the idea of posting up inside against their starting unit. Smith and Asik just aren't strong enough to post inside when you have Ibaka/Perkins on the floor and getting help from Durant or Sefolosha. Abandon switching. Force them to either drive into the zone or shoot perimeter 3's. Sure, they'll still get some shots due to their length but it's better than getting our guys in foul trouble and giving them open shots in the paint. Long as folks close to contest jumpers, that should yield some okay results. I don't expect the Rockets to beat OKC, but if they can push OKC to shoot more from the outside and we can shoot better from the outside we may have the opportunity to either have OKC get cold or us get hot and we can potentially steal a game. Smith in the 2nd unit can potentially be effective. The OKC 2nd unit doesn't have an elite shot blocker or a massive size advantage like their 1st unit does. I can see Smith and even Montejunas being significantly more effective in the post against the 2nd unit once Ibaka and Perkins are on the bench. And Asik needs to tone down the double pump moves. A double pump move once in a while is fine, but he does it a bit too much. Against a crazy fast team like OKC, you have to get the ball up ASAP or you'll end up double teamed. Right now I also think the Rockets are adjusting to the speed and athleticism of OKC. They need to adjust their passing and driving expectations. Shots and passes that are normally good shots and passes are risky against OKC. Similarly, the amount of time to make a decision against a team like OKC is smaller than against most other teams. Instead of a full second to make a decision, against OKC it's more like half a second or a quarter second before the shot is contested or a driving lane is closed. Hopefully they'll settle down some once they get over the shell shock.
