lmao 13 points in 13 and the time when he drove and kicked it out to novak during the 22 game streak and the time he laughed at the guy who got denied when he asked his girl to marry him
Injuries, Heartbreaks, Dunk of Bradely, 22 game win streak. He hasd his good and his bad... He is done and atleast we all get to move on
Not only that, which he may or may not have delivered, but we expected either a championship or a damn good run at it. It just didn't work out that way. And it is certainly not all on him.
I'm not sure he even ranks in the top 3 Rockets in that regard for me. The guy didn't frustrate me much. His interviews were a pain in the butt and made you wonder what the hamster in his skull was smoking, but before the past season or two, I really didn't have any big issues with the guy. Frustrating to me was Ralph Sampson with his inconsistencies game-to-game and his injuries toward the end of his career. Frustrating was watching Mitch, Lew, and Luke blow (yes, that blow) out our potential dynasty in an instant. Frustrating was watching yet another Steve Francis dribblefest. Frustrating is watching the talent that could've been in Eddie Griffin get destroyed. Frustrating was watching Hakeem leave Houston (I hated his guts for a few months, but got over it). Frustrating is trying to be a fan of Charles Barkley knowing he doesn't know jack about 90% of what he babbles about and really doesn't give a flip about the Rockets even though he was one for a short period. Frustrating is knowing that Scottie Pippen was a Rocket. Frustrating is thinking Jordan could've been a Rocket. () Frustrating is watching Derrick Chievous go on stage as a Rocket with a Celtics cap on (am I misremembering that?), listening to him say he could get his shot off against anybody, believing him, and then.... reflecting back on his career today. I could keep going, but this is frustrating...
Kobe probably has a better chance winning a championship here if he comes to Houston next season then he does with the Lakers. Yeah you heard it RIGHT HERE. Tmac is just a flat out mega loser.
I'll remember him as a player with the other worldly talent and skill to have left with his jersey hanging from the rafters next to #22 and #34 and maybe even another championship banner, who instead left with possibly the most unfulfilled potential of anyone who ever wore a Rockets jersey. His legacy is considerably worse than Steve Francis, who, for all of his short-comings, cannot be said to have not given it his all. He just wasn't ever good enough to build a franchise around. McGrady was a true franchise player and he could have been one of the All-Time greats. And as sad as it is when you see a player fall short of that due to injuries - I actually wish I could say it was simply due to injuries that T-Mac fell short of his potential here.
My biggest emotion is regret. Regret that he was injured so much. I actually had no problems with T-Mac being a prima donna, back when he was WORTH the hassle. I just regret that he stopped being the superstar worthy of the drama and baggage. There's nothing more annoying than a past-his-prime superstar still feeling he should be treated as such.
Joe Barely Cares? Not enough seasons but man...then having Wiggins and and Lew Lloyd return to the Rockets 3 years later just be much declined versions of themselves was bitter redemption. Can you imagine right before the playoffs Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry and Shane Battier busted for blow, then them not coming back to the team until 2013?! Sacrilege...but I could NOT STAND Vernon Maxwell's shot selection. Just hated those low percentage off balance chucks. Maxwell playing today doing that would get absolutely torn to shreds by the board's advanced statisticians. Look at how Trevor Ariza is getting blasted. Ariza is shooting the same exact percentages as Maxwell did during the CHAMPIONSHIP years!
