Yeah God forbid a 30 year old goes to a team who is trying to win now. I hate when people get mad when players look for a lot money in contracts and then still get mad when players look for contending teams. Also this is a game not a war, it is not treason. Every player wants a ring so what is Ron suppose to do? Play on sub par teams while his career finishes?
Put yourself in his shoes. He had a chance at financial security for three years and he took it. I don't blame Morey for only offering him one year, but I don't blame Artest for rejecting it.

i would boo for the fact that with all the recent stuff that came it out was clear the Ron always wanted to be a laker. he didnt choose to be in Houston, when he heard the news he was traded he first said "lakers?' he did choose to leave Houston though. having Yao hurt gave him the perfect excuse for him to not look like the bad guy, but he would have bolted either way. If he wasnt so two faced after the season ended about his free agency I would have less mad at him
Rockets didn't really want or pursue him. Artest wants a ring and, as many other players have done, goes to LA to ride Kobe's coattails. Artest is still a drama queen. Many times...his mouth is bigger than his bite. Got a younger player in Ariza to help us over many seasons who will likely be more productive for us than Artest would be over the same stretch. No real hard feelings with Artest. He did help get us to the second round finally. But, I will boo him because he plays for the Lakers. I see him as trying to take the easy road to the ring...versus accepting the real challenge by remaining a Rocket and trying to get a great group of hungry guys to the ring. In that sense, he is an old fart who isn't up for the challenge of the Rockets. See ya, Ron. I hope it all doesn't work out for you! lol
no matter what team he is on he will always be one of my favorite players in this league, how could you hate the guy? he got us out of the second round and always had fun with the media and especially the crowd at the end of the blazers series when he jumped in the stands
Ron did exactly what we needed him to do...he helped us get out of the second round, carrying lots of that pressure on his shoulders, and we have to remember there wasn't so much as a peep out of him behavior wise...i for one will be applauding ron and thanking him for his contribution...besides, we got a limitless talent replacement who's also 5 years younger and plays a similar style of D, so we didn't really 'LOSE' anything in this whole debacle

It is like David Ortiz going to the Yankees, or Derek Jeter going to the Red Sox. Johnny Damon, just look at how the Red Sox fans treat him now. Artest played hard, but the way he said how happy he is as a Laker is almost like how unhappy he is a Rocket is why I have no love for the former #96 Rockets. Love his passion and persona, but hate his ill-advised shots and selfish plays. Truly, Artest isn't a team player, more of a self-promoter. Last season, I didn't see Artest give hi-fives all that much, or much less even help a teammate up when he's down. If you look at this past season highlights, he was doing his thing, caring less about his teammates sorta like Kobe, actually a lot like Kobe. He is going to find out that Kobe is a lot demanding than the whole Rockets organization.
