Novak is still a rookie. Im not supirsed at all that he's not getting any playing time.

Lots of rookies dont get much playing time in the NBA first half of the season.

Im sure JVG knows what this guy can do but he wants him to improve on the parts of his game he can't do.

Once he gets it down & works his ass off in practive, he golden.

What about John Lucas III? He is sitting on the inactive list. He might be scarred permanently. He'll never become the backup point at this rate.

Novak needs experience playing in NBA Games. This experience can't be obtained in training or training workouts. He needs to make mistakes, the Coaches correct him, then learn from his mistakes and improve.

    How would you know?

judging by some of the flatout wrong assumptions you make about the game, Id almost be willing to bet you have never played in an organized basketball league(the Y doesnt count)

Jeff nailed it...when he is ready to play and not be a defensive liability he will get time.

VG likes him....he likes his professionalism and his hard work in PRACTICE...dont believe me?

check the Bucks clip video later when I post it. VG is asked about Novak at the end of the coachs press conference.

of course....some of yall will just claim he is lying or something even tho the one thing VG doesnt do is pussyfoot aroudn on answers......dont let a little thing like facts get in the way of another reason to hate on the coach.

Exactly Yetti. I like your answer Jeff, but how well did it work for Darko?

You don't come into the league knowing it all. Point being, Novak was brought in to be a shooter, and all of his deficiencies you spelled out are all apart of Scott Padgets, but he'll most likely get more time just because he's not a rookie.

As far as practice is concerned, you dont really get better in practice, you tune your game up in the offseason. Practice is moreso gelling with the team. That takes time on the court with the team. Even Phil Jackson can see that its important to play your rookies.

i swore to my buddy that i had seen a thread which questioned how a 2nd round pick would respond because he's not getting playing time in his rookie season. my friend didn't believe and said i was crasy.

The question du jour is if JVG had been Yao's rookie season coach, how much playing time would Yao have got?

It's a no-brainer Rudy T will always hold a special place in Yao.

This is a do or die year for JVG. Do you think he is willing to risk his job on players that havent proved themselves yet?

Yao vs. Novak is not a valid comparison. Yao was a 1st overall pick in a position where the Rockets only have Cato. Everyone knew he needed to play and deserved the playing time. (Though even he didn't get too many minutes in his first game or two). Novak is a 2nd round pick and a project and the Rockets have at least two other guys competing with him for minutes (Hayes, Battier) who have been good when they played.

Now, I'd question the sanity of anyone who seriously thinks minutes in the first week of his career makes or breaks player. If Novak is a real player, he'll earn his minutes and help the team. If not, he'll suck even if he gets force-fed minutes.
