Philly's location actually makes games with the East coast team very short flights, so yeah he might be able to do it. Of course the next question is: Will the coach put him in?
Put a fork in him...he's done. Now he can concentrate on his "music". My prediction is he goes over seas...where he butts heads with a Euro coach.
Even with his head on straight he was going to be a fringe NBA player. He probably realized that and decided to take his current route to grab some attwntion as opposed to the bench warmer that nobody ever heard of course.
It's curious how McHale is never mentioned in combo with Royce. If my memory serves me correct, McHale was the huge/key proponent of Whites skills and talents. I always got the feeling that DM just decided to give one to the coach on that, especially considering the intel that if hey passed at 16th the Mavs were going to take him next. It's like DM was resigned to draft him 18th, had to decide on the spot if he wanted to draft him earlier (as opposed to his choice Zeller), decided to back his coach... And of course got burned. So the interesting thing is how much it hurts, if at all, McHales credibility within the organization, particularly with respect to player personnel decisions
LOL, you are a terrible troll! Notice no one bothered to take your bait. As for me, I'm so glad we did whatever we had to in order to get D-Ho in our team. And paying RWs salary plus giving up another prospect is totally worth it. I'm just glad Hinkie didn't ask for T-Jones/D-Mo. #BeWell lol
Nope that opens up more money under the salary cap. Plus I see Isaiah Canaan as a high 1st rd pick this year.
LOL you should just ignore posts like that, it makes no sense considering Hinkie and Morey were on the same group until this season.
I know, I was just saying that since royce tought (in that draft video)he could have gone higher than him. I wish we had that pick back. Oh we'll.
If he has any chance it will be with that 76'ers team. They have to be the worst team in the NBA, he'll have to straighten up and fly right though, no pun intended. His act in Houston won't cut it even with the worst team in the NBA.
I suppose it is possible that, had the pick been used on Tyler Zeller, and Houston believed Zeller to likely evolve into a very good backup C, then Houston could have instead traded Omer Asik to the highest bidder (presumably for at least one first round pick and a couple of second round picks). Cap space could have been cleared that way, too. I realize that Philly is rebuilding/tanking but I will be shocked if Royce White plays a single minute for Philly this season. Philly will obviously decline to pick up his team option for 2014-15. The only question is if Philly a) cuts him or b) stashes him on the IR all season. I'd say there is close to a 100% chance that he will never play another minute in the NBA. I just used the term "another"... this implies that he played at least a minute in the NBA last year. Did he? Major props to Houston management for handling the Royce White situation so well. That could have ended far worse, believe it or not. A lot of teams would have done a poor job of accommodating them and the ******* would have had the high profile lawsuit that he seemed to be looking for.
Furkan Aldemir too. Based on some of what we've heard on him, it sounded like the Rockets (and the Sixers/Hinkie too) thought he was capable of being at least a rotation-level big in the not too distant. Plus being a foreigner, we could've waited another year to bring him over, creating some nice optionality while we rebuild the roster this year. *That* was the tragedy of Royce White - he was so destructive that he cost an asset to get rid of him. If it wasn't Aldemir, it would've been Greg Smith or another future pick.
I wasn't trying to trick anyone, I thought it was obvious I was being sarcastic about the phrase Sheridan used
in that grantland video diary of him on draft day, his agent said that mchale was the only one in the war room fighting for royce.
Can't see him overseas, to long of a flight to get there. Plus they don't put up with foolishness from Americans. They will send his behind right back, and give that spot to a native countryman.
I can't see Royce returning to the league barring some overseas stint where he wins MVP with the Tmac of Greece with him coming clean about his miraculous cure with a prescription called the desire for big money. No one is going to take a risk with a proven deadbeat liar who does nothing but tweet and empregnate fat white chicks.
If we could do history over: "With the 16th pick in the 2012 NBA draft, the Houston Rockets ... pass."
What separates Royce and Fab Melo is Royce actually has potential. If I understand the deal correctly, Hinkie gave up $1.7M of cap for a second rounder. It's really a win/win deal for 76ers. Royce's salary is already paid by Rockets. Just like Melo, Hinkie can waive him at any time and not have to worry about money loss. If another team picks him up, I assume 76'er can even partially recover his contract cost. In another word, 76'er have more financial gain by waiving Royce. Royce is on an extremely short leash. - If he comes in camp out of shape, he will be waived. - If he misses any training camp or assignment to DL, he will be waived. - If he tweets anything negative about 76'ers, he will be waived. When 76ers say, 'jump,' Royce better asks how high, or he is gone with the wind! This is his last chance to make it in NBA. Do I believe he will make a last ditch effort staying in NBA? LOL!
I guess we'll still hear about him... http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/08/royce-white-to-open-mental-health-center-in-houston/
