Look, the reality is that Biden supporters, we need to Biden to take Florida, NC or AZ. I believe trumps path to 270 Ec votes require him to take those states, plus one or two of PA, MI and WI. PA will not begin counting mail in votes until Election Day. Since more Dems will vote by mail, PA will show as trump leading for most of Election Day. His camp will be calling that a win and saying that mailed votes are fraudulent, especially since they won’t all be counted on Election Day. MI begins counting the day before Election Day and has warned it may take several days to finish counting. I forget about WI.
Just saw that a District Court Kudge has ruled that South Carolina cannot use signature matching software. I’m on my phone so posting the link. https://apple.news/AIAAKImD1SJe0QtHZ4a2j0A
It also sounds like that the PA Republican Party is trying to get the USSC to rehear the case regarding counting PA mail-on votes received after Election Day.
If there is/was one mistake that Democrats made this election that could cost them it would be the persistent promotion of mail in voting. The Republicans tips their hand months ago that they'd try to use that delay to steal the election if it's close, and the Democrats, Biden's campaign, and the media should have shifted 180 degrees to promote safe in-person voting. Pennsylvania scares the crap out of me. Wisconsin scares the crap out of me. Michigan.... I think is much closer than the polls would lead you to believe. Then there's the sh$tshow that is Florida. I have no faith in that state to conduct a fair election. Biden can clean house and win all of those states and some toss ups like NC, GA, and yes Texas, but it can also be a straight flush again for Trump and the delay will just supercharge the Republicans to sky rocket decisions to the Supreme Court to pull off Bush V Gore 2.0.
I could imagine Trump winning 2020. Republicans maintain Senate. At 81, Breyer could be the next one out. Thomas retires. Trump appoints two even more conservative justices, giving it a 7/2 very young SCOTUS.
It’s a given that Republicans are going to contest the vote count as they already are. You’re right to have some concern as while the odds are still long there still is a chance Trump can win the election outright but the amount of shenanigans that could happen around the count and certification are still unknown.
There is a trade off between higher turn out and rejected/uncounted/disqualified ballots. We won’t know that until after the election. The local official needs to ensure that all ballots are received by the 3rd. That’s a logistic issue but one they can solve. I think the bigger issue is the rejection due to voter “errors” / stupid requirements. The world is looking at America and think wtf kind of democracy is that when a SCJ outright said inaccuracy and voters disenfranchisement is a-ok in this modern day. I still can’t believe he outright made that statement. And yes, he will vote to steal an election.
I am not even sure the SCOTUS can tell PA how to count their votes. What if SCOTUS says no ballots can be counted after election day. How many states will abide by that? States can claim the SCOTUS doesn't have jurisdiction in that area and simply ignore it. My sense is that the SCOTUS is going to do just that and we are about to face our biggest constitutional crisis since the civil war.
I don’t think that will happen. Every states do their due diligent to ensure accuracy and stamp their approval / certify the result AFTER the 3rd, and prior to 12/15 when the EC vote. But yea, there is likely an attempt and with a 6-3 partisan court, there is a chance.
