The site seems to be down. Not sure what is going on. I had no idea you could watch these streamed! That's awesome! If anyone knows what's going on with this site, please let me know. Also, I have a couple questions about it in general:

    Whenever the site is up:
    - Will I need to download something to watch the games?
    - Does the channel only work at certain times? (seems like others where having a problem.
    - Is CCTV-5 on this page? (not sure how all this works since I can't view the page)
--> What is the process for getting the feed?

    Thanks for the help!

I went to this site and tried to register, but they say they are not accepting many more members. Any idea how to get in? Can you donate and then get a login and password? Are the games still shown here?

    Thanks!

So I'm obviously desparate, since I don't have NBA League Pass, and I'm trying to find any way that I can to watch the Rockets games. I know now is the not the time of day that I'll catch a Rockets game, but I went to the site anyway, and there is nothing. Does this channel not feed something all the time, or should I at least be catching some program?

I would consider giving somebody my StreamTV membership if I can figure out how to get my personal credit card information removed from being linked with that account:)

Really? Why? Why would you want to get rid of your account if you can catch the Rockets games?

Also, if they keep your credit card on file, do they ever charge you? Is there any cost associated with streamtvnow?

I don't know, I was just talking out loud and not really 100% committed to getting rid of my account. I checked it out last night for the first time and they have some good sports viewing Channels (live streams) no doubt about it. It was just that I already have access to the Rockets games and was looking for some other sporting events to view (stuff you would see on NBA League Pass, or Boxing PPV, etc.). Maybe it was a slow night last night on the Streams but it has lots of potential no doubt about it to be a great chance to view many sporting events that I would not otherwise get to see.

Cost was $3.67 for 1 month of access. $9 and change for the 3-month access.

    - you need to dl a pplive software from that site first, install it and then you'll be able to watch.

    - there are a lot of channels on their list, majority of them are chinese, some do have off time, just like some tv stations.

    - cctv-5 is on the list. i believe there are multiple cctv-5's some with better quality pictures. have a look at the % column. i always pick the one with higher %.
i don't think it carries the pre-season game though. between cctv-5 and shanghai sports channel you should be able to watch most, if not all of the rockets games.

the program itself is very simple to use. it uses the same principle as bt, you dl'ing and in the mean time ul'ing, so the more ppl using it the better quality of the feed. you only need to be patient for a few min at the begining.

    good luck.

jaychi, i'm using 1.0.7.4. it works fine for me. you can watch only a few channels using 1.0.9.2, but with 7 there are a lot more choices, cctv's being among them.

never tried wi-fi myself so can't tell.

Jay, you have a bandwidth rating of 86kbps, no matter what site you goto, you will most likely have problems streaming the video

Just to make sure I have the correct link, I'm trying:
    http://www5.pplive.com/english/index.shtml

Is this correct? When I try to go to this site, it says it's not there (typical cannot find server error). Any idea why? Is it working for anyone else???

Yeah, that link doesn't work for me either. I just downloaded the one from the chinese website. When you install it, it'll give an option for English.

    My questions are:

Is it compatible with windows media player 10 (I see 9 mentioned a bunch of times at the chinese website)?

Do I need to d/l a codec to get it to work?

Thanks for the note, Phreak3. I'm dl'ing now...nice that it will have a option for english! Please let me know if we need anything else for Media Player 10.

Hey, does anyone know if the game tonight against the spurs will be on CCTV-5??

    - you guys are right, looks like this (http://www5.pplive.com/english/index.shtml) doesn't work. don't know what's happening there.

    - after dl'ing and installation, run it and there will be a "PP" icon on your right bottom bar on the desktop. right click on it and pick "switch language" and you'll get english. right click it again and choose "channel list", then pick whatever you want to watch and wait. either media player or real player will come up automatically.

    - media player 10 works fine for me. no extra codec needed.

    good luck.
