hi my windows media player is already version 10 and we have a dsl connection but still it does not play smooth.it pauses then play then pauses again.i've been playing it for more than an hour and still it did not show any improvements.hope you can help us.thanks!
Well maybe it's just that there aren't too many people on right now. I know that these p2p programs work better when there are more people connected. In which case Rocket games should be better because there will be more people watching. Or maybe you might want to check your buffering preferences. Try it with the default buffering, or buffer for 10 seconds, or 20 seconds. Test it out a little, see if anything helps.
Thanks for the info. What's the minimum speed needed to run this program? I still have dial-up but am currently looking for an upgrade through DSL.
hi m_cable what program are you talking about when you say i look for "options"?how do i look for it?thanks again
In media player, tools>options or preferences. whatever the procedure is to get into the options menu
thanks hot balla and m_cable! I found it and i change the buffer to 10 seconds then 20 seconds but it did not make any difference.should i wait for a few minutes to see the result?what you should i do if it still does not work?
It's most likely the p2p factor like someone else said.. in order to have smooth video, more people have to be connected and watching.. so if you are watching tv when only a few are watching it will be choppier than when the rockets are playing since a lot more will be watching. I watched the Asian Games on it and it was choppy for the first few minutes then never chopped again for the last hour of watching it.
Wait 10 minutes at least. If it still doesn't work, then it might be your connection. Check the speed at http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/. If you are registering something like 100, then theres nothing to be done
thanks Mr Rolo.so i guess i have to live with the situation.do you have problems with pplive or media player or I am the only one with this problem?
It's all good, but I think we should tone it down a little. Clutch had been in enough trouble lately.
just my 2 cents: 1). your connection speed, my friend with less connection speed has difficulty in viewing pplive, while I have had no problem with cable internet. 2). close other programs, the 800k TV cannot be viewed smoothly when I'm using Firefox, and my lappy has 512MB memory.
hi hotballa i got a 86 on the bandwidth test.it was regarded as slow.so is this the reason for my problem in the media player?
Ok, one more thing, make sure your anti-virus software, fire wall, proxy setting if any is not preventing PPLIVE stream from coming in.
86, wow thats almost like using a modem... Well there's your problem, the connection needs to be higher if you wanna stream video from the Net. 86 isn't gonna cut it no matter hwo many things you try. Sorry
thanks hotballa.i guess i have to improve my connection speed or just be content on slow streaming videos.
